The brains behind Boney M, Frank Farian, has passed away at 82. He was the true voice of the male singer/dancer, Bobby Farrell, who merely mimed who died several years ago.

Coincidentally, Farrell died on the same date and in the same city as Grigori Rasputin, the subject of one of the group’s songs, and who he had dressed as in some live performances.

Alan Mills, tennis umpire from Stretford. Hardly a household name, granted, but a face millions would know from the annual Wimbledon coverage. Grey suit and grey hair, seen staring heavenward at even greyer skies or staring courtward at even darker behaviour.

Remember him having the unenviable task of trying to deal with Ilie Nastase back in the 70s
He didn't want to disqualify him when he went off on one but had to maintain some kind of order.

Thing with Boney M that always got me was when we had "The Troubles " it was stepping on eggshells type of stuff then Boney M released Belfast. Not an " oh isn't it wonderful - Harland and Woolf and the Titanic stuff - no full on bombs and guns and it actually got played. Looking back that was a really bold move
