The "which famous person died today" thread

No disrespect but just seen a thread about a guy (Maxi Jazz) who I've never heard of but no mention of the great Thom Bell who was one the great songwriters/producers of soul particularly in the 70s who has recently left us.
In case you don't know of him here are some of his greatest hits

Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI has died at the age of 95, the Vatican announced this morning, almost a decade after he became the first pontiff to resign in six centuries.

"With sorrow I inform you that the Pope Emeritus, Benedict XVI, passed away today at 9:34 in the Mater Ecclesiae Monastery in the Vatican," Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni said in a statement.

The German pope emeritus, whose birth name was Joseph Ratzinger, had been living a quiet life in a former convent inside the Vatican grounds since his shock decision to step down in February 2013.

Wonder if he’s in a better place and his life’s work has been justified. Hope so. Chances are he’s just dead and if he could still think would be thinking ‘oh fuck’.
