No way :(RIP David Wilkie.
I remember watching him win Olympic Gold. In the days when any Olympic Gold, never mind the swimming of all things, was a rare event indeed.RIP David Wilkie.
A true Scottish great.Wilkie was the first British man to win Olympic swimming gold for 68 years, clipping 3 seconds off the world 200m record.
Unbeatable over 200, he was world class over 100 winning Olympic silver. His exploits in Olympic and world championships were lauded all over the country, to huge acclaim.
He retired soon after the olympics aged just 22.
RIP David Wilkie.
RIP David Wilkie.
Cancer doesn't discriminate, it takes the young the old the fit and the unhealthy. No way how can someone so fit die that young? Post swimming did he take up smoking Capstan Full Strength and eating lard. My Mum loved him he was 70's fit - RIP
