Yes, brilliant in loads of things including Shakespeare but, whenever I saw him, Utterly Cottage Hospital and Kier Hardie's cap always came to mind too. RIP.

Condolences to his family and friends. His devotion to Prunella was wondrous to behold. Such sad news.
He appears in the penultimate episode of Doctors on BBC today. It will be very poignant.
