My favourite is Auchentoshan. Glenkinchie is just 10 miles or so from where we live. Still prefer a Speyside.I love all the strong tasting whisky, I wouldn't turn down any of the lowland malts though

If you fancy expanding your horizons you should try some Japanese whisky.
Thought this was a bit of a fad a couple of years ago, but all up, I think they’re all pretty crap from what I’ve tastedIf you fancy expanding your horizons you should try some Japanese whisky.
My favourite daughter got me a bottle of the Balvennie Caribbean cask for my birthday, very strong rum influence initially but that's died off a little as I've gone down the bottle, I'd recommend it as an alternative to sherry cask whiskies.
My top 2 of owned whiskies at present is
1 - Glendronach Allardye (18YO)
2 - Highland Park (15YO)
But the best I've had was a Bowmore 18YO Vintners trilogy matured in Manzanilla casks, absolutely brilliant but can't be found anymore sadly or I'd have broken my spending limit for a bottle
I really like the sound of the Balvennie Caribbean Cask. I've added it to my list of new ones to try, which interestingly already had Glendronach on it but just the 12 year old. I presume your looking at 3 figures for the 18YO Allardye.
I'm intrigued. Tell me more!

The welsh Chinese whisky?Quite like the Welsh one. Penderyn. It's ok if you fancy something a little cheaper.

Never liked it, found it very harsh
Try the legend one. It's a lot smoother.
Bought a bottle whilst in Wales, doubt I would buy another as was expensive for an inferior whisky
TrueProbably Italian if it's from the valleys.
That’s interesting. A while back I had a bottle of Smokehead 18 which was superb, I’m assuming the one you’re talking about dos’nt have an age statement? Have you got any details mate.Booths have Smokehead on offer at the moment with £10 off. If you like the peaty whiskey it’s worth a punt.
I cant be doing with Scotch...just cant do it. I love my Irish whiskies, obviously biased....i have been round quite a few but i always come back to good old standard Jamesons.
The caskmates editions are nice...but as well as Jameson i like:
Red Breast
Black Bushmills
Writers Tears
Teelings Small Batch
Have also been told by a few "experts" that anything older than 12 years is pointless...nothing really changes or improves after that
