Do you think it is easy to suddenly learn fundamental skills at 16? He should have been learning these things are 8,9 and 10. Walcott has added a lot to his game, but it is still inconsistent, because he lacks the fundamentals. Do you really think you many professionals can learn to dribble at the highest level at 16?Tony101 said:quite the opposite, walcott since 16 has really not improved much. I remember watching an interview with walcott when he was 18 and he was asked who has the most skills when you play 5 a side in training. He said Diaby has few tricks, but its not something for me. That comment alone explains why theo has not improved much since he came to Arsenal. He's not someone who is willing to add to his game in training and learn new moves. imagine if Theo could dribble with that pace? he would be an absolute nightmare to play against. if he learned how to manipulate the ball and create space for him, once he do you, he will never be caught. But until today i have not seen him dribble with skill and a bit of finesse, its always knock it to the side and run. After watching many interviews with Theo, i have come to the conclusion he's not a football fan, he sees football as a job and just does enough to get buy. There's no desire to learn and improve.
I have seen RVP speak about how he goes him after each game and watches his game to see what he did right and wrong, how he always watches football on tv and his desire to elarn. maybe im wrong, but Theo dont strike me like that type
Walcott's crossing has improved leaps and bounds. Before he could never beat the first man. It may still be inconsistent, but now he can occasionally whip it in with real pace. It takes a lot of work to do that so late.
Another notable area he has improved is his shooting from range.
In truth it is too late for someone like Walcott, but he can still keep improving. A top coach needed to get to him much younger.
