The thing that annoys me is the low buy out clause, if he hasn't gone by 31st July and his clause goes to 90m Euros how many then will be saying lets get him.

Yeah but come on, 90m euros in Messi and Ronaldo territory.

Even if his fee was similar to Isco's - around 35m euros - I would still sign him.

Can someone explain why he will still be at Barca in August if his buyout clause is 18 mil ?

Think he is still making up his mind if he wants to stay there and fight for a place. I think we need to concentrate on our attack now to be honest. If Cavani wants to go to Real we need a plan B before the best strikers available are spoken for.

Fernandinho is easily better than Thiago at the moment in virtually every department. Especially for what we lack in the centre of our midfield.

People will realize this once the season starts and Thiago is no longer flavour of the month.

If Fernandinho can pick the ball up anywhere on the pitch, even under pressure and nearly always make a successful pass or dribble around the opposition, then I'll be very impressed with him. I have only seen a little bit of Fernandinho and didn't see much of Shaktar in the last 2-3 seasons at all. I just hope he lives up to the hype on here. Personally I think Thiago is a great player who will only improve.
Nice to look at, but hardly the most important attribute for a player to possess. We already have plenty of midfielders capable of retaining possession in tight spaces.

He might still be at Barca in August because Barca may give him guarantees about future games given it is world cup year and the player although he has said he would leave may change his mind. He may also decide that the offers on the table or clubs to go to are not the right clubs to play for. How many games would he get at RM, or Bayern which leaves us with the good old rags and as fans both raggy and ourselves if there is one thing we agree on he would dovetail brilliantly into their midfield. And the lucky bastards might get a potential world beater for 15m, which is why I am rather annoyed at the low buy out clause.

I can't see how Utd can play with wingers & Thiago, there would be a big hole in the middle which, for instance, Yaya & Fernandinho would just run straight through.. If they are going to abandon their successful method of play to accommodate him, then I truly hope they sign him.

They'd probably play him and Carrick/Strootman (if they sign him) in the middle, two wingers, two forwards... typical rags really. Thiago would be their 'new Scholes' (produced by the MUFC academy of course and loaned to Barcelona for 15 years).

It is a connundrum for them do they abandon a system that has brought them trophy after trophy over a couple of decades for a new system all to accomodate a potential world star where there is no guarantee they will be sucessful. Anyway pinched this off Rag cafe

All he's said is that he wouldn't talk/think about his future until after the Euros. He'll probably go home or on holiday now, talk to the relevant people, have a think, and in a couple of weeks something might happen.

So there we have it this thread can now go to sleep for a fortnight at least. If I were in his shoes given the low buy out clause I would have my agent talking to the clubs that want me about 72 hours before the deadline.

Fernandinho's dribbling is exceptional for a midfielder - most successful dribbles (31) in the CL last season and Shakhtar went out in the last 16!

I don't think people realise what we have signed in Fernandinho. They think he's Nigel DeJong with a Brazilian accent !
this^

Can be world class if he settles in quickly

He does yeah, but it's a big loss Baconface leaving & if Moyes is also going to totally reinvent their style of play, that suits me.
