I read somewhere that the only way Barca would let him go is with a guaranteed buy-back clause lasting for three seasons. So if he went somewhere and did the business, Barca could have first refusal to buy him back at a fixed, agreed fee during any summer window, which could of course be far less than his true value by then if he progresses. Crafty.

We should do that with some of our young players if it becomes a problem getting them game time. I've a feeling we're going to have a lot more quality young players coming through in the future.

Linked with the rags today.

I have to say, if he moves and we're not in for him I'll be gutted. I'm still shocked Barca would rather pay Arsenal a shit load of cash for Fabregas, rather than just promote Thiago to their first team. Stinks of politicking that particular move. Either way, we need to be in there for him.

These buy back clauses are the wave of the future for most big clubs. Rags did it with Rossi and ended up making a poor decision in not buying him back when his contract was up.

The buy back pretty much takes the strain of finding a club every year that wants to play the player and is fine with giving him back after a loan. It also is an instant boost to the transfer kitty if the player falls through. I like them. We have a host of young talent than we're going to have to find places for or we'll have to sell them. Lets hope our guys can create contracts like the big boys do.

Just signed a new 2-year contract with Barca. I'm relieved as United, Chelsea, and Arsenal were linked with him but not us and he'd be a revelation in England.

New buyout clause: £81m

If we want to be Barca City why not go balls out for tis lad?

From what I've seen, which isn't much, he looks a top player. If Bayern are in the frame though I don't think we'll stand much of a chance

If we get Pellegrini we have more chance than ever to sign players from la liga, seems to be very respected over there.

If we buy him and he turns out good, won't he just pull a Cesc when they have a midfield opening?

If he doesn't pan out, we eat the loss.

Sounds like a bad deal for any club. Would love to sign him but his loyalty to Barca is so ingrained you wonder if he would ever stay in England.
