Thiago Silva

Fuck no, rather we keep Tevez and buy some up-and-coming defender. Saves $$$ and the Vinnie/Lescott partnership.

Tancredi Palmeri on twitter has said that talks have been going on and Ac have quoted us €50m for Silva. Dont know how reliable he is but he has also said that Palacio will sign for Inter very soon so that could be a marker.

World class defender but don't think it's going to happen, they're cheaper alternatives who although not as good are champions league standard at the very least

So Mancini, our football manager with zero business experience, is negotiating a deal to bring in a 27 year old defender despite us stating that we don't buy players of that age, for around 50m, despite us stating that we're cutting back.

Well I'm convinced, off to the tattoo parlour I go!

The piece i've highlighted is the bit that tickled me

Fair play, he owns a yacht company

Amazing how many stories the press can create out of a 10 minute courtesy call!

But why would Galliani even want to talk to him?

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini insists his visit to Milan HQ was “a courtesy call. There are no transfer moves in the pipeline.”

The Premier League-winning tactician was spotted in Italy over the weekend, as he was in the stands for Sampdoria’s Serie B game with Pescara.

He also raised eyebrows by visiting Milan offices to meet with Vice-President Adriano Galliani, fuelling speculation of talks for Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Thiago Silva.

“I went to the Milan offices yesterday purely for a courtesy call. Besides which, it was Galliani who called and asked me to do so,” Mancini told news agency ANSA.

“Therefore, there are no transfer moves in the pipeline. I was in Milan for personal reasons and Galliani asked to meet up.

“I was there for 10 minutes and I certainly did not make a proposal for Thiago Silva, nor did I offer Mario Balotelli or Carlos Tevez to Milan.”

Have to agree that he is an immense player, however there is also news that we are targeting Chiellini from Juve after he has won the Serie A league. Again if he teamed up with Kompany at CB that would be a formidable partnership.

I understand that Lescott has had a blinding season, I was dubious when we first signed him, but as proved against QPR he can sometimes make a unforced error.

Why I think we are looking at Thiago or Chiellini is to push Lescott for his place and for quality cover if Kompany needs resting or gets injured

but as proved against QPR he can sometimes make a unforced error.

Right it seems that AC are now willing to look at offers for Thiago....they have apparently quoted barca in the region of £40mill euros + they would want to take Thiago Alcantara as well.

I think we could potentially get this fella now and throw in Tevez and maybe balotelli??

This is the only way we could do this I reckon.... Plus Tevez may be happy with it

TBH Bobby can talk bollocks when it suits him
1. 'esss over ..'
2 'ell never play for citee again..'
3. ' I will sell imm..'
4. 'is definately barm..this'

so expect a bid for Silva

Milan need to do some major rebuilding and they are going to need to raise some serious cash -so selling one of their major assets has to be a potential option. Who knows... I think Lescott has been great but Bobby didn't seem to want to playhim in the Champions League - so perhaps he is looking at other options.

Note: I'm not saying Lescott is bad or anything of the sort. He's an excellent CB.

Okay with that out of the way, Lescott has two real weaknesses. First, he's not the most gifted passer, but he's certainly improved in that area so I would say that's a minor point. However, the QPR match highlights his other weakness, which is his mistakes tend to happen when he's playing a high line, which often lead directly to goals. If teams are going to pack their own penalty area and wait to counter us, our CBs have to play high.

We need 4 quality centre halves to play in prem and CL

Kolo
Kompany
Lescott
Silva/Martinez

IMO that would fit the bill brilliantly. All to plain when Kolo was at ACON and Kompany suspended followed by Lescott being injured Savic and Boyata not up to speed yet. This meant having to play Richards who although is better than Savic and Boyata wasnot ideal.

Have a feeling we might need to use this diagram a lot this summer...

Well, it is already the second time you've posted it so I would probably agree...

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has rubbished speculation that the club are ready to offer Carlos Tevez or Mario Balotelli as part of a deal to land AC Milan star Thiago Silva.

The news comes just 48 hours after Mancini broke away from his family holiday in Italy to meet with Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani, where the future of Brazilian centre back Silva was high on the agenda.
City are long-term admirers of the 27-year-old, who is widely recognised as one of the best defenders in the world, but Milan are standing firm on their massive £40 million valuation of the player, prompting talk that Mancini has been trying to broker a deal that would see £10 million and one of Tevez or Balotelli go in the other direction.
However, despite confirming talks with Galliani, a bullish Mancini has been quick to deny speculation that he had made an offer, whether that included player exchanges or not.

'It lasted 10 minutes and I certainly didn't make an offer for Thiago Silva,' said Mancini.
'Even less did I offer Balotelli or Tevez to Milan.'
Barcelona and Paris St Germain are believed to have joined City in showing an interest in Silva in recent weeks, but Milan are digging in and will put up a fight to keep their star man.
It's a stance that will do little to put off interested parties, but following up on Mancini's comments yesterday, Silva's agent Paulo Tonietto says his client is going nowhere.

'Neither I nor Thiago have had contacts with Manchester City or Barcelona. His preference is certainly Milan. Only the club executives of Milan can decide whether to sell the player,' he said.
City are expected to firm up their interest with an offer, but not until later in the transfer window, with the club currently chasing other targets, including Lille winger Eden Hazard.
Silva is currently contracted to Milan until June 2016.
