Thiago Silva

Sorry to be a spoil sport but 30m plus for another centre half, when Kompany and Lescott are absolutely solid and came off the back of an immense season, is absolutely ridiculous.

If we want a centre half, someone 10mil tops who will be happy to play as a backup player.
Lescott is good... But if we play Barca or Madrid i think that may just be a step too far for him. Silva is better as well.

To be fair Silva is a brilliant player and the amount of games we will play in a season there will be enough to go round for everyone

A more detailed version of the Mancini-Galliani meeting. Should point out the source of the info, Gianluca Di Marzio, have good contacts in Milan.

Mancini-meets Galliani, AC Milan 50 million calls for Silva

It 'been a market-style meeting between Adriano Galliani, Milan's chief executive, Roberto Mancini, now in via Turati, not just a courtesy visit. First details emerge of the summit with the City manager, who requested information on Thiago Silva. The Rossoneri for the past few days had already been in contact with the leaders of the City but now he's in riparlato face to face with the coach from Jesi. Thiago Silva but 'would be unsellable, why Milan have asked provocative almost 50 million euros. The English club would be willing to give up Mario Balotelli just to get to Brazil. But Milan is not going to make market transactions between a defender and a striker. It is then assumed an exchange-Balotelli but the Swede Ibrahimovic earns too much for the City, about 22 million gross. In the moment so has not found a way to exchange and share it riaggiorneranno in the coming days. For Kolarov, that Milan would loan with right of redemption. E-Milan axis City will be very hot summer ...

Like when England played Spain and he had them all in his back pocket?

I'm more than confident with Lescott's ability to play against the big teams

Milan have just let nesta go and mexes hasnt totally proven he's a worthy replacement, so they're probably already looking for a decent cb, if they actually sold t.silva it definitely would have to be for crazy money

To be fair we do struggle a bit when teams are pressing us to bring the ball out from the back. Lescott is weak in this area and it's not Komps strongest suite. Silva would improve us in this situation.

We are seeking to make a Champion team even better. Players who can do that are likely to be costly, including centre halves.

Speculation on Twitter from mancini's visit to Milan centres around Thiago Silva

Who knows if it is accurate? Guardian reports mancini saying it was a courtesy visit

Yes, just seen it. Interesting. It will snowball from here whether it's true or not.

Tancredi Palmeri on twitter has said that talks have been going on and Ac have quoted us €50m for Silva. Dont know how reliable he is but he has also said that Palacio will sign for Inter very soon so that could be a marker.

-- Mon May 21, 2012 8:13 pm --

Just seen this was put a couple of pages back. Nothing new said about it but highly doubt we'll pay €50m for him. €30m is more realistic.

Tancredi Palmeri‏, a CNN Italian correspondent, just tweeted the following:

Tancredi Palmeri‏@tancredipalmeri

Confirmation: Manchester City through Mancini asked Thiago Silva to Milan. Milan made the price: 50m €! So far, Milan haven't included Tevez in the deal with Thiago Silva, but asked for Kolarov on loan

I still think €50m just a starting point, they'll try and get as much out of us as possible, bobby seems very keen and i think he'll push them all the way. If reports are anything to go by milan still seem interested in tevez and i can see him getting thrown in as part of the deal

could be the best CB in the world right now...and he can play next to yaya in front of kompany and lescott. if we can make the swap for tevez, it's a no brainer.
