My Boy by Philomena Lynott. Well worth a read if you get a chance.
She used to run a hotel in Whalley Range which was used by various entertainers when they were performing in Manchester.
You have to wonder what Leslie Crowther thought when his daughter brought Phil home and said they were going to get married. Although, from memory, I think Leslie stood by his son in law right up to the end.

Crowther was an alcoholic himself. He had a lot of problems when he was younger (but was tea total for many many years before he died) so he knew what Lynott was going through.

Phil Lynott actually taught an old mate to play the guitar (always refered to him as his prodigy) and also a little known fact :-) this prodigy went on to teach Bluemoons very own 'Dabs' to play too, that's some pretty fine pedigree to have.
