His mum wrote a good book about him, detailed his early life in Manchester and the shit his mum got, being an white Irish women with a ''half caste'' baby in the 1950's.
My Boy by Philomena Lynott. Well worth a read if you get a chance.
She used to run a hotel in Whalley Range which was used by various entertainers when they were performing in Manchester.
You have to wonder what Leslie Crowther thought when his daughter brought Phil home and said they were going to get married. Although, from memory, I think Leslie stood by his son in law right up to the end.

My Dad knew Philomena at the time. Said she was a lovely woman.

Fantastic band at their best i.e. with Robbo or Gazza partnering Scott Gorham. Lynott wrote some great songs and was a charismatic front man. Rememer seeing them at the FTH and, after the gig, they let all the fans who were waiting for autographs at the back door into the dressing room to get them.

Phil Lynott actually taught an old mate to play the guitar (always refered to him as his prodigy) and also a little known fact :-) this prodigy went on to teach Bluemoons very own 'Dabs' to play too, that's some pretty fine pedigree to have.

How is BT? Have you heard from him lately?

The Lizzy influence is stamped all over my own playing, i owe it all to them.

Why did it take so long for someone to cover one of Lizzy's best songs?
In my opinion one of the best covers ever done. Well done Sade.

And the original featuring what is considered to be one of the best guitar solo's
of all time. Take a bow Robbo-

Loved Thin Lizzy. Such a shame how Phil Lynott ended up. I need to read that book his Mum wrote, she must have been a strong woman to cope with having a half caste Baby and being unmarried in the 50's!
