Things from Maine Road we wont see at Eastlands

Trevor Morley's moustache

The beautifully crafted, aquired, authentic, shit on the cobbles down the side and back of the terrace streets

Managers moaning that training in front of the fans prior to kick off is too intimidating and thus getting the team wisked away to a local school 5 a side gymnasium in a transit van, driven by Barry Conlon at 2pm

The competitor to the Pink... produced by the Chronicle

The Pink was produced by the Chron and the Green was the MEN's sports paper. When the MEN took over the Chron they kept the Pink (and ditched the MEN Green) because the Chron's Pink was the more popular.

Throughout Manchester's footy history the Chron was regarded more as a Blue paper and the MEN was Red - the Chron's owner in the early 1900s was City's Chairman.

Things we saw at Maine Rd but not at COMs....

A packed ground with people sitting on steps and standing in all the aisles (normal capacity over 52,000) and an official attendance of about 47,285 (Charlton 85 - but the attendance was often reported at a figure much lower than we all expected!).

Although I was only a kid, the crowd for the 1985 Charlton game was incredible.

The Kippax was a sea of humanity and, like The Kop in the 70s/80s, when we scored you could tell it was rammed as people could only raise an arm at best and the surges were incredible.

I honestly wouldn't be shocked to learn that there was 60 000 in the ground that day.

Starting the afternoon in one spot on the terrace and ending up somewhere completely different.

Dogshit alley!

and nipping back home to listen to GMR postmatch in 3 mins when in I lived at 27 Newlyn Street, just off Platt lane :)

Queuing for 14 hours around the stadium for wembley tickets...... then again!!!!
