Anyway; if it is a larger calibre round (a.38 or a .45), would it have a slower terminal velocity, due to it being a larger object and thus creating more air resistance?
 
would the bullets still come back if it was cloudy?

When the lone-wolf detective tracks down the 30 strong group of ruthless baddies who are armed to the teeth and him and his partner decide to go in alone with their Smith & Wesson 38's.

The partner gets shot and Dirty Harry or whoever radios in. Half the city police force are there within a couple of minutes. Why not just call for backup in the first place?
