Things In Manchester

They were bought out by JD sports a while ago so its been coming. Expect a new HIP store in its place is the rumour
Damn. Another indie retailer bites the dust. Might save me a fortune though.

Just jumping on this thread save starting a new one. I’m going to be over and in town this weekend for the first time since Covid. Was looking forward to popping into Oi Polloi, but I see it’s just closed down! Anywhere else in town similar that’s worth a visit?
There's a store next to Fjalraven off St Anne's Square. Also if not alreadymentioned R Store in the Barton Arcade off St Anne's Square. Oi polli had gone shite anyway.

Hi,
I am visiting Manchester this July with a few of my mates. For context, I was born in Manchester but was brought up here in Chicago. I am visiting for the first time ever. What are the places: cafes, pubs, streets, museums, galleries, vintages stores etc. you guys would recommend me to visit to get a true Manc experience?

Basically the same topic from last month. Lots of replies in here that might help you.

There was a similar thread a few weeks ago when a lad from Canada was about to visit Manchester. We ended up meeting up with him, and actually ended up learning a few things through visiting places through a tourist's eyes.

Without listing every museum, pub & eatery which others have mentioned, here's some of the places we took our Canadian friend.

Pubs: Cask (x 2), Crown & Kettle, Seven Brothers, The Old Wellington (also for a meal), Piccadilly Tap & Northern Monk.

One of the things he mentioned was that he'd never experienced pubs which only sold drinks before, with all the establishments back home being required by law to also sell food.

Food: Bundobust (fantastic array of Indian Street food).

Places of interest: As well as the many museums others have mentioned, it's worth having a look around Castlefield (the marina, Roman ruins & Castlefield Viaduct National Trust site) & "old Manchester" (Cheetham's, the Cathedral, Shambles Square).

If you need any more help give me a shout.
