I'm from Scotland so only ever heard barm when visiting the family in Stalybridge, assumed it was a roll? But never asked. Also a muffin is a small spongey cake type thing. Chocolate chip muffin, blueberry muffin etc. Am I way off from the manc versions?

Really? Can't ever recall hearing anyone say that, then again all the cafes I went to were in Manchester. So a muffin is a roll to some and a barm is a roll to others? And vice versa?
