Things that are pretty much obsolete.

Can you still buy new manuals?
You can indeed. Not all cars but lots of smaller cars are still available in manual.
A lot of people still prefer them in sporty cars, Subaru WRX and Ford Mustang still sell lots with a manual option just to name 2.
As I said though, mostly auto and plenty of kids learn in a auto which means they get an auto only license

Taking a magazine or newspaper to the bog.

Porno mags.
Domestic land lines.

I was in Oz for 3 months last year seeing my grandson. I used my sons car every day.
I came home and was pleasantly suprised that my 13 year old car started first time as I was sure the battery would be flat. Unfortunately something had gone wrong with the gear box as it just would not go into drive.

And then I remembered I had a clutch which I had to press down, select first gear, bring the clutch slowly up until it met the revs of the accelerator that I was .........
:)

The thing that got me every time in England was pulling off the Motorway (I must say....Excellent network of motorways in England) where I'd obviously been cruising along for an hour or so, so down the off ramp and got to a roundabout the car started chugging away, nearly stalling, I'd forgotten to clutch in, change down gear....wife kept saying.... Christ you've done it again...let me drive !!

That's pretty sad, town centers don't do much to encourage people in. As I remember most of them were unusable anyway with all the vandalism
Couldn't find a single public toilet in York, place was full of foreign tourists. Had to go to the top floor in M & S. where a queue had formed. Terrible state of affairs for such a famous place. They're everywhere here.

Reminded me of same situation in Barcelona, had to use McDonalds on La Rambla.

I thanked M&S by buying us both a 5 quid special in their cafe, a superb bacon and egg MUFFIN and a Latte, gotta say it was delicious. 10 quid well spent.

Then went for another piss :)
