things that scared you as a kid

I raise you liver and onions at school, a truly horrific culinary experience.

I can argue my mum's liver and onions would come pretty close.

She used to just boil it and serve it grey. She also tried us with tripe and onions once.

I'd rather have eaten cat shit.

And don't get me started on her corned beef hash. We were so poor we would have a tin between the five of us, so basically water, carrots and spuds.

Kids today don't know they are born. Probably couldn't even use a key to open a tin of corned beef.

The thing is I love liver and corned beef hash when done right, that grey stuff though, fuck me it was bad, luckily my mum was a very good cook.
 
Talking of scary films, I see The Babadook is on BBC tonight.
I've not seen it - can anyone tell me if it IS really scary, or is it just hints and suggestions of fear?
