things that scared you as a kid

Drama. The class at school where you had to pretend to be a growing tree (probably loads of other stupid shite but that's all I remember about the first and last lesson I attended). I was scared of having to act like a dumb **** while the other kids got to laugh at me, I was scared my parents would find out I was knocking off school every Thursday afternoon and I was scared of getting caught by the rozzers while I snuck off to the beach. I dreaded it all the time.

Not really in the spirit of this Halloween caper but it's the only thing that came to mind. Apart from my fears of acting, Thursday afternoons, being laughed at, my parents and the police, I was a very brave boy.

The Singing Ringing Tree, particularly the evil dwarf played by Richard Krüger.

Wasn’t quite as scared though when The Fast Show showed their version … The Singing Ringing Binging Plinging Tinging Plinking Plonking Boinging Tree!

And a school bully from the next door primary school to my school ( with who I had a successful leveller with twenty odd years later I didn’t forget the fear he put in me at the time).

Never actually seen let alone captured on film, the threat of the Bogey Man terrified us into behaving for years.
He really did exist - my mum said so.
