Things to do in Bath (the city....)

Yeah, it’s fucking brilliant for both students and parents. Only problem for my lad is that the last year of his degree and the first year of his masters spanned covid and the lockdowns, both of which which he really struggled with.

That’s such a shame, I feel really sorry for anyone who’s uni time coincided with covid, they lost out on so much.

That’s the main reason why I’m happy my son chose Bath. He’s not had the best of times at school and sixth form, and covid didn’t help with that either. Of all we looked around, Bath had the most welcoming feel and Uni, from my own experience, is so much more than just the course, I could really see him enjoying it there and hopefully getting the life experience too. It just had a vibe to it that neither he or I didn’t get from any of the others (Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester and Birmingham were his other offers).

Been few times and love it. As other mentioned the Roman baths, the spa, great pubs and nice walks along river.

Looks great that.
My son loves York so this will be right up his street.
Shame about the over 16 for the rooftop spa, but I'm sure we'll find other things to do.

Just grabbed a few follows on Insta for food places in Bath.View attachment 86752
It gets busy at times but worth a visit.

Get booking the Roman Baths. Late as possible. 9pm if you can.

Roman baths, best in the evening. Bath Abbey. The Royal crescent. Good shops. River is lovely. Ghost walk is funny as fuck. Some nice pubs. Thermal bath spa, basically a roof top heated pool with great views. Sally Lunns eaterie. Pulteney Bridge.

Glastonbury and Wookey Hole are not far away.
And the beautiful City of Wells.

My granddaughter starts at Bath this year. Her education was fucked around by Covid like so many (always hoped to go to Oxford ;() Bath stood out for her as a top University, lovely environment and Bristol nightlife nearby ! She can’t wait and all the feedback we’re getting from ex-students etc very positive. Beautiful places nearby to such as Bradford-on-Avon.
Just a great part of the world.

Hey all.

Anyone been to Bath?

I've always wanted to visit and was planning a weekend away (weekend after next).
Originally planning Oxford but little returning hotel wise (may have left too late so I may book later in the year).

But I've found a deal at the Apex City of Bath Hotel which looks pretty nice (central and has swimming pool etc).

But....Oxford is rammed full of sight seeing places and I'm less sure about Bath (at least going with my son).
Roman Baths (obvs_ and it's only for Saturday and Sunday so might be worth taking a punt as they say...

Thanks!

Been a few years so I don't know if it's still the case, and depending on what you are interested in, Walcot Street used to be one of the more bohemian bits of Bath with a fair bit of artisan stuff and a decent pub called The Bell. Tbf might have all changed but no doubt you can find out online.

Great pub The Bell, nice for an afternoon pint or two. Love Bath, beautiful City.

Top place! And you can take a thirty minute trip to the cultural hub that is Swindon, the home of XTC. I believe the club have a museum where you can gaze in wonder at our cups (both of them).

Then get back to Bath, as quickly as you can.
