Things you refuse to call by their new name

Mmmmm not sure BUT, they are in Trafford, not Salford or Manchester. Trafford. I don't know what Syky Casual is on about,
Gorse Hill is certainly on the boundary and might even encompass the ground.

Even though I lived in Old Trafford for a couple of years, I’ve never really understood the boundaries and areas since it all got messed up in 1974.

We can all agree Stretford and Old Trafford aren’t in Manchester because it annoys United fans.

But what are they in? You can’t really say they’re in Trafford not Manchester because those two things aren’t comparable. One’s a City and the other a Metropolitan Borough. Nobody puts Trafford as part of their address. Same as I don’t imagine anybody uses Tameside as part of their address.

All very complicated.

Manchester is a city, along with Salford, but both are also boroughs of Greater Manchester. The swamp is in the borough of Trafford, not the borough of Manchester.

As for nobody puts Trafford in their address, you've not met my missus, but then she also puts Cheshire, so she either thinks it's 1973 or she's trying to be posh.

Yeah but what is the Stretford equivalent of the ( city of ) Manchester bit? Or is Stretford a town in its own right?

I think I might regret this with your knowledge of the exact borders of the Northern Quarter, fresh in the memory.

But I was always under the impression that both grounds were in Gorse Hill, Stretford.
Both in the ward of Gorse Hill and Cornbrook since the changes earlier this year, think it was Longford previously.

Old Trafford should put a cease and desist letter in to the swamp

Stretford will be a town in Trafford, like Sale, Altrincham etc.

Gets even more confusing with Bury, Oldham etc that are towns within the borough of the same name...
