Things you refuse to call by their new name

Yeah but what is the Stretford equivalent of the ( city of ) Manchester bit? Or is Stretford a town in its own right?
Yes Stretford is a town in its own right but I have been pondering your post and I think you are correct. On the main road is a large pub called the Gorse Hill. Behind it is a large number of terraced houses which is also classed as Gorse Hill.... in Stretford. If you were to spit from one of the front gardens off the houses you would hit the Swamp. Therefore...... the swamp has to be in Gorse Hill, Stretford.

Don’t know where you live but a lot of people in Altrincham and Hale insist they live in Cheshire and not Greater Manchester like they actually do. But the reason for that, apart from wanting to be posh, is that they were actually told back in ‘74 and to this day as far as I know, to continue using Cheshire in their address as it would make it easier for the post office to get their mail sent to the right delivery office.
I live in Timperley which when I moved there was in Cheshire. We all of a sudden got put in Greater Manchester as a part of the Borough of Trafford.

I will never use Trafford as part of my address and still consider myself in the County of Cheshire, we also bizarrely have a Warrington post code.

I’ve been giving this far more thought than it deserves but I’ve been trying to identify exactly where Old Trafford ends and Stretford starts. Although a spoke was thrown in the works when one website suggested Old Trafford was actually an area of Stretford.

So I’m still non the wiser. Although Harry Ramsden’s which is nearer Old Trafford ( the area) than Old Trafford ( the football ground ) gives its address as:

For my next job, I will try and find out what the fuck Throstles Green is? And is it a sub-section of Throstles Nest?

Batters in cricket, sounds a bit homophobic, always reminds me of Ali G. It’s batsmen.

Türkiye, although phonetically the same I’ve no sympathy with their reasons for not wanting to be associated with the derogatory term after the way we were treated in Istanbul. Not blaming the locals, we were treated so well by so many, ripped off to fuck though in airports and fan parks, they couldn’t run a Shisha in a tobacconist.

Correct. The same goes for Stockport even though the northern half was always geographically in Lancashire. (North of Lancashire bridge in the centre of town).

Sale, but some websites show it as Cheshire. I always put Manchester just to annoy her
Born and bred in Sale, Cheshire, never Manchester even though it's M33 post code. The fact that where we lived was 2 minutes from the border, the Mersey and then Stretford / Chorlton....Pure snob value but it keeps me happy.
