Things you're ashamed of doing way back

Mines a weird one, it's about a childhood friend of mine that I bump into maybe once every 3 to 5 years if we're back in our hometown at the same time.
Every time we bump into each other he always goes on about the things I did when his Dad passed away when we were 14, how much I helped him and his Mam and that i'm the nicest guy he's ever known. He never actually goes into detail though.
He says this in front of his Wife and kids , in front of my kids, in fact, in front of everybody and he gets quite upset about it all and I just shrug it off and tell him to stop being daft and that's what friends do.
The trouble is and the bit i'm ashamed about is that it's obviously a huge thing in his life but I can't remember what the hell he's on about and feel a bit of a fraud.
It's a daft thing but it bothers me that I can't recall something that obviously means so much to him.

Circuits circuits, circuits I remember asking why do we have to do this and the screw in charge saying so you'll be able to outrun the old bill next time.

When I was at school, I and a few mates had jobs stacking shelves at Shopping Giant in Cheetham Hill.
They used to play a music tape over and over and over.
When I hear any of those songs, I think back. Good times.
Soaps and washing powders was my gig :-)

Ha ha, I was at the one in Wythenshawe tinned meats and the like. Ye Olde Oak Ham has scarred me. Biggest benefit as a 16 / 17 year old was that it was opposite the biscuits, always stacked by ladies. I think Johnny Marr might have been working the tills at this time too.

I could get my work done quick as soaps and powders had big boxes so no fiddling and didn't take too long stacking.
The manager was a nutter but a good guy and if you'd done your stuff, and a bit of cleaning up you could get away
