This may sound a little odd...

Give over. Not for one fucking second do I miss supporting a shit football team. Watching turgid games in front of half empty stadiums. Trudging miles home gutted after allowing the hope to build up yet again. Knowing your season is over before the turkey's gone cold. Watching the brash show offs down the road winning everything.

Whilst there is enjoyment in the surprise victory when your team is no good, and you can claim to all around that there's honour in blind loyalty, lets just get one thing abundantly clear: it's a hundred times better sitting down to watch silva, aguero and kompany on a weekly basis. It's a hundred times better going to old Trafford without fear. It's a thousand times better going to wembley and lifting trophies.

I've given a lifetime to wanting the best for Manchester city and now we are here I don't forget that for a moment. I want us to get better and better and better.

Being shit is shit. Going home angry, or disillusioned, or desperate, week after week:Fuck that. I like winning, thanks.

They must be off their meds dave

I know. Total madness.

This forum, bless its cotton socks, can always throw up a surprise or two.

Look at the guy above desperately trying to cause a fight with me. Comical ;-)

That period of our History should give us extra motivation in keeping City at the top end of Football both on field and off field.

If nothing else that cash brings stability and a future for this club that was in doubt. Our club is safe and that's something even without all the cups and flashy players.

Looking at the 11 years I support City

From Relegation Threatened to Premier Champions

I wish that Man City could be champions (10 years) and I never expected to ever win the premier league

My favourite time being a City fan was 2007/2008 season when we had a brilliant team

We have to be careful as we Dont want to end up like Leeds did

I might of missed something but who's trying to cause a fight with you?

I miss that Underdog feeling, the sense of unpredictability... and yes it's still there when we play teams who can do us over (like that glorious club Southampton) :P

It is more predictable but one thing I will say to many Blues who are starting to become spoilt:

Never forget that feeling of Loss.

Don't let it get to you after a defeat.

I can still walk away after a loss, with a Smile on my face and not be spitting my Dummy like those Rag bastards at the Swamp.

Keep this in your mentality and those wins won't ever get tiresome

Just to keep up my reputation as one of the most honest men on the Forum. I have a confession.

I have turned "Rag" in my support. If we are not winning 2-0 after 20 minutes I want to know the reason why! - and it is also our superstar players Vinny,Silva,Yaya that I am always the hardest on in my criticism. When this happens I will do what I do best. Sulk like a 9 year old.

A defeat at home against a Coventry or a Reading 5 or 6 years ago was forgotten in minutes. I have took to our success like a Duck to water and just like a Mickey fan now living in the past, I have always believed it to be my birthright.

I think that's just about summed it up for me. Great post DD.

1000% right, after 54 years man and boy watching, this is wonderful. I feel 10 feet tall. Get a grip!!

Sometimes I wish we were still shit!

Bear with me...

Believe me, these feelings of 'wishing we were still shit' are very few and far between. But, does anybody else wish there wasn't so much pressure on us?

I love the fact that we are competing for the Premier League, winning trophies in the past two seasons (and looking good for a third), showcasing some of the best players in the world, and generally being the centre of attention. But our expectations are so high now that it takes a little bit of the excitement away...

I have a vivid memory of beating Newcastle (I think it was 1-0 or 2-1, and I think Steve Howey scored) and that was the biggest result of the season, and was celebrated like we had won the league! Nowadays, if we dared to even draw with Newcastle the players would be booed off by some fans, slated in the media, the managers job security discussed in the press etc. and I find it a little tiresome.

I think what has brought this on is that when City play against teams my friends support (Villa, West Ham, Wigan, Bolton etc.) they always have the "Well, no one expected us to beat you" and it just reminds me of the days of no pressure, and the joy of a simple 3 points! I remember when winning a match, no matter who against, was celebrated with raucous cheers and celebration - compared to nowadays we just applaud what we have seen and casually saunter out of the stadium with a well-that-was-always-going-to-happen swagger!

Basically, we spent so long being the underdog and not expecting to win, that I am struggling to adjust to being the favourite! I'm loving it, and love seeing City winning (especially after all the shit we have had in the past), and am not going to start supporting Stockport County or anything - I just sort of miss the old days!

Anyone else? Or am I on my own?

We add the pressure on ourselves mainly, then the media. We are the first to call for a new manager, player replacement etc even after a draw.

If you believe we are favourites to win everything then their is only a negative spiral that will follow.

We need to get real and grounded in our attitude, as you say we once were, we should be now.
