This may sound a little odd...

Give over. Not for one fucking second do I miss supporting a shit football team. Watching turgid games in front of half empty stadiums. Trudging miles home gutted after allowing the hope to build up yet again. Knowing your season is over before the turkey's gone cold. Watching the brash show offs down the road winning everything.

Whilst there is enjoyment in the surprise victory when your team is no good, and you can claim to all around that there's honour in blind loyalty, lets just get one thing abundantly clear: it's a hundred times better sitting down to watch silva, aguero and kompany on a weekly basis. It's a hundred times better going to old Trafford without fear. It's a thousand times better going to wembley and lifting trophies.

I've given a lifetime to wanting the best for Manchester city and now we are here I don't forget that for a moment. I want us to get better and better and better.

Being shit is shit. Going home angry, or disillusioned, or desperate, week after week:Fuck that. I like winning, thanks.
Could not agree more.

although I used to love suporting the club when we were shit and had a great laugh doing it, in my first season as a blue we won the league cup and were there or thereabouts in the league for a while - the long spiral down certainly had it's moments and taking the piss out of ourselves was great fun but for fucks sake.

aguerooooooooooooooo - that moment still makes me weep like a baby and I want more!!

no.

People just pine for yesteryear, when they were younger.

Time has clouded your judgement, the same as that when you remeber the summer holidays when you were a kid, you mostly remeber the sunny and enjoyable days, not the rains soaked boring ones where you sat in, did fuck all or had a shit day.

times a great healer, but it's also makes your memory very translucent.

This.

Plus as people of era's gone by remember football as it was.
cheap.
accessable.
played mainly at 3 on a saturday, imagine someone saying in 89 we're playing on sunday at four.

I miss the Sven era. no stress what so ever. We won our home games and lost our away games and ended up around 10th place. The stress that comes with presure of always have to win every game is hard for your health.

As arrogant as this may sound, recently I have started to think-how did I support a club for so long with no prospect of ever winning anything apart form a relegation battle or promotion back to the prem!

Its because of what Shrek had written on his vest when he was at Everton and whipped up his shirt after scoring, to reveal these words mate:

ONCE A BLUE ALWAYS A BLUE!!

Unlike you he didnt see it through....

I love watching City more now than ever. After 47 years on the roller coaster I still get a buzz on matchdays. For me the last 14 years since Gillingham have been superb (apart from the Pearce interval). The football under Keegan and Sven was a joy to watch and the last few years have been the icing on the cake. I was too young and skint to do European aways in the 70s and 80s so I have filled my boots in Copenhagen, Barcelona, Madrid, Hamburg, Munich....etc etc. I can't believe anyone wants to go back to the way I felt after the home defeat to Bury or the Luton relegation. These are the glory days..as someone once said it's time to drink it in!
