This summers transfer window

The OP mentioned Tevez but some others have overlooked him in this argument. Not a transfer as such but the equivalent of a £30m+ signing and the one major improvement on last year's personnel. Had he not returned, City would undoubtedly have gone in harder for a big name.

A dishonourable mention here for our blinkered friend who dismisses everyone who didn't come from Serie A. This despite the fact that Tevez has made more appearances, scored more goals and played vastly better than you-know-who.

Other than Tevez the improvements are indeed mainly to the squad. Don't be surprised if one two of them make a real impact in the long run, though, if not later in the current season.

Just imagine Tevez is a re-signing, and this transfer window was a success.

When the signing of Sinclair became an on/off saga, was anyone really bothered if we signed him or not? I wasn't! I would have been far happier if we had managed to sign De Rossi and not bothered with any of the others except perhaps Nastasic, having said that I am still confident of another successful season.

lets be honest, the club have fucked up big style, they should have backed mancini to the hilt and cashed in on our title success.

they did niether.

Well done mate, you made me laugh out loud there. You were joking right?

This seasons problems are not the actual players brought in but-

Our better players from last season have still not found their true form - Silva and Kompany

The transfers were brought in late which means mancini is tinkering without the players having the right preperation and pre-season to settle in.

I expect we will kick on soon and think garcia will be an excellent signing.

The rest will be squad players - Rodwell has looked Ok but made some silly mistakes - exactly what the Everton supporters said he would do. SS still not seen enough of him yet and the same for Maicon and Nastasic.

Garcia and Rodwell are better options than De Jong and Pizzaro
You were doing so well.

De Jong was back up to the team last season and is a very limited footballer albeit one of the best at breaking up play but we need more than that from our players. De Jong was a good option to bring on when protecting a lead but when Garcia finds his feet I have no doubt people will not be complaining about selling NDJ

Pizzaro impressed me with his passing range but my grandad who is 66 is more mobile than him. Pizzaro was brought in as back up nothing else and was never going to hold down a first team place.

Garcia and Rodwell on the other hand are both fighting for a first team place, I can really see Rodwell ending up like Kompany and dropping to a CB and a very good one at that he has the similar attributes to Kompany IMO, he is tall, good in the air, a good tackler and is composed on the ball. Although he is a million miles of being as good as VK at the minutes if anyone can turn him into a top draw player its Mancini. Garcia is better than NDJ he is more of a threat going forward and can defend and is awesome in the air. He is struggling playing in a midfield 2 but no less than NDJ did.

This seasons team of:

------------- Hart ---------------
Zaba ---- VK ------ Lescott --- Clichy
------- Garcia ----- Barry --------
Silva --------- Yaya -------- Tevez
------------- Aguero --------------

Subs: Pants, Maicon, Richards, Nasty, Rodwell, Nasri, Sinclair, Dzeko, Mario

That team is a lot better than last season and has a lot more options on the bench but we are just out of form at the minute and the players need time to settle in.

What we have to remember is that we won the EPL one year ahead of the projected schedule. I imagine that those who pull the purse strings have not brought the entire expectation forward and are still working on a slower development, hence the age of those brought in and their respective contract lengths. Those in charge have a longer perspective in mind, which thankfully frees us up to fret about the immediate.
