IMO you can't compare players in different positions.
Messi would be wank at CB and Kompany would be wank upfront.

I'd say Kompany would be better upfront than Messi would be at CB ergo Kompany is the best player in the world :-)

There was an interesting point made on redcafe in the thread discussing the best player in the prem.
Someone argued that there is only one player in the prem who completely dominates his position and there can be no argument that he is the best player in that position and no challenger comes close to him.

He plays for City but I'll let you guess who he is.

It's just not true. The reason Silva does not play for Barca in particular who he would fit in better is because they have better players. He is not on the level of Iniesta, Xavi or Messi. It's very biased to suggest so. Even for Spain he has to take a backstage to the true stars of the Spanish team. He is not underrated. He is a great 10 and one of the best players in the Premiership, but he is not on the level of the Barca boys and either is Di Maria for that matter.

I don't agree. I don't think there's much between Silva and the players you name. He's the best player in the Prem by some distance.
I would say that depends on Yaya. I would say over the last few years Toure has been better than Silva, but it is close. I have a feeling that with Yaya's age he may be on the decline now, but Di Maria, Falcao, Aguero are all possibly better than Silva and Hazard has the potential too.

Not even remotely close. Silva is head and shoulders above anyone else in the team, or the rest of the league.

I wouldn't swap him for either

I watch these lads live every week. For me, David Silva is the most talented footballer I've ever seen. Yaya is immense, Kompany is amazing, but Silva is a magician. He's created more shots for his teammates than any other player in the Prem by an absolute mile in the four years he's been here.

He just chooses not to shoot that much, he's even said himself that he'd rather set up a goal than score one. Take ten assists away and add ten goals a season to his tally (in my opinion the assist and the goal are as important as each other) and everyone would rave about him.

Anyone watching Hull v West Ham?
Yeah, a bit quiet in front of goal so far. Just a few shots smashed over.
