This weeks Champions League matches.

Bayern show that you don't have to buy +50 million striker to compete in Europe.

Ribery and Robben are the key for their success.

I hope our scouts will look for a players like them, a player who can dribble past player, create chances and score goals.

Even though we invested around 100 million on strikers, yet Bayern are better team than us because of Robbery ( Robben + Ribery)

Ribery and Robben were bought for over 20 million pounds each. Now days that would probably translate to around 30+ million. They did not come cheap. Gotze was around 32 million and Martinez another 30 odd million. Neuer was bought for another 20 million, Thiago for 20 odd million and if they had their way they would have signed Lewandowski for 20+million. Last year when they did win the CL they had Gomez, who they bought for near 30 million pounds. Now days that would easily be the equivalent of 40 million signing. Bayern have a wonderful youth system, but they have not been afraid to splash the cash.

Ha ha ha I know ITV and Sky are bad for sucking up and being biased to the rags in commentary but while watching Atletico v Barceholes I was streaming the rag game in the background with German commentary and they were so biased it was insane, commentator literally shouting for Bayern to shoot and celebrating with yes! yes! when they scored their goals.

Cerezo (Atleti) said if they face Chelsea they have to pay a fee around 10m euros for Courtois to play.

Bloody hell..

If that's true you can see why Chelsea have put such a clause in the loan contract, Chelsea would be going mad if he saved a potential winning goal or even worse kept Chelsea out in a penalty shoot out in the semi or final.

Courtois is one of Atleti's best players and listening to Graham Hunter on Revista the other day he was saying that Mourinho wants Courtois to be Chelsea's number one next season.

I think today Mandzu and Müller were as important. They somehow complement them. Müller with his runs and being the second man in the box and Mandzukic for being a striker and a hard fighter. Robben and Ribery are not the ones (apart from the last CL final) that really score the decisive goals. Today before the first goal Müller and Mandzu crossed - Müller then had Vidic who is better with headers, Mandzu Evra... Guardiola seldom plays all of them together, that is the problem of his rotations and of the system - the last time they did in a match they scored 5 in 17 minutes against Hannover.

At Bayern the system with an backbone of own players who all are smart and have great personalities, some additional Germans and then some international stars is just great. Robben, Ribery and the Germans are together now for years, went through difficult times together (they were vagabonds before who never stayed anywhere very long) and that just sticks them together. And that is the basics. They try to include everybody. Everything else just was matched to it the recent years. Especially Robben and Ribery are not the same types they have been some years ago. The two older ones and the reserve keeper who is 33 are important factors, too, even if they do not play that often.

I think a team has to grow together - you just cannot only bundle stars together. Yes, you need a good system and a good coach, good players - but the extras just come with time, with team chemistry, with experience together. Some teams break in bad times - and some grow together.

I agree. Let's not treat the German rags like they are miserly with money and only bought cheaply

My point is not about who spent more cash than the other.

Both teams City and Bayern cost fortune, but the main difference for me personally is Robben and Ribery.
