The point he is making is that Jenas was never charged and he lost his job, people have been associating Partey with rape for at least a year now.
I think comparing the 2 cases is not really helpful because Jenas was fired for sending inappropriate messages. That's something a BBC HR investigation could confirm very easily (and Jenas admitted to).
When it comes to something as serious as a rape accusation, the clubs' own HR/legal department aren't equipped to work out if it's true or not, they have to rely on the outcome of the police investigation, and Partey has claimed innocence.
Personally I think we've had enough of these cases in the PL in recent years (christ what a depressing sentence) that the PL should come up with a default way to handle this kind of thing to protect the clubs and players. RIght now the clubs' are all left to make and ad-hoc decision and that's not really a good look or very fair.
Obviously an allegation alone isn't enough to suspend a player , but having a player represent your club right up to the minute they're charged officially leaves a bad taste in most fans mouths (I think this is true across Partey, Mendy, Greenwood, Johnson and others)
Personally I think they should do it when a player is arrested. You can't get arrested without reasonable suspicion of a crime & it being necessary (to continue the investigation in Partey's case), and at that point, just suspend them with pay and say the player needs time away to sort it out. Obviously it's a massive distraction to have all that going on in your personal life.
The other point you could suspend someone is when the police pass the file to CPS and recommend charges - in Partey's case that was January 2025 - and I suspect a lot of Arsenal fans would be much happier if the club had acted then.
I also think the current system incentivises players to drag these things out as long as possible, as long as they are still playing and getting paid then why do they care if there's these allegations going on in the background? Partey's legal team dragged this out for 4 years, there's no chance he'd have done that if he was missing half his career.
