Thomas Tuchel | England Manager

Its an English arrogance that somehow we are better coaches

Can anyone tell me the last Englishman to win a title ?????
If we are leading coaches then surly we have englishmen who have won loads and off the the top of my head the last english manager to do something as in win things is Clough and we are talking pushing on 40 years

Howard Wilkinson?

I agree with you post.

Had to laugh as there was a German comedian on the News Quiz who said something along of the lines of; "You invented football. It's about time you had a manager that knows how's to play it."

i wonder why coaching staff aren't restricted by nationality, for the national teams?

and to be clear, I do not care if it's an English person or someone from Mars, but i wonder why nationality restrictions only relate to the actual players, and not the coaching set up? what is the reasoning?

I actually like the appointment. Germans are the most Anglophile Europeans out there, so culturally he's a much better fit than Capello. England needs to produce more coaches (not the ones on wheels), considering our football pedigree, we massively underachieve in that department.

Maybe when the rules were drawn up nobody imagined a country would employ a foreign manager?

Howard Wilkinson won the League with Leeds in 1992, I don't know if he won anything else of significance. I don't think an Englishman has ever won the Prem.

No idea why. But It should be.

Why can’t just get Gvardiol to play for England because we don’t have a left back.

Should be the same with the manager - we shouldn’t be able to just draft in someone of another nationality because we only have less than 1,800 qualified coaches from this entire country (Spain have over 15,000 as a comparison) so a pathetic talent pool.

The entire point of international football is ‘our best against their best’. If our best isn’t as good as their best, then, tough shit, that’s what we’ve got to go with.
