"Those were the days my friend" song

I'm sure the Spit The Dog chant came about when we were playing Oldham and fat Micky Quinn, wjo was a ringer for Bob Carolgees, was playing up front for them. It was the first time I heard it anyway, an away game when we drew 2-2 I think

You're right it's a great thread this.

like the fella said there are loads more but they aren't for here.

This is a great thread! I wasn't even born when most of these songs were sung! why did you oldies ;) stop singing them? the new stuff is absolutely gash! "der der der der Martin Petrov/Adam Johnson/we've got shit songs"...NO!!! total rubbish!!

Make sure tho everyone you put the song name, and artist if you know it, to the City versions of the songs so us youngens know how to sing it!

Can anyone remember the full words and tune to the Sha la la la Summerbee song? Before my time but my dad said it was a Kippax classic

he came to city from swindon town
sha la summerbee
little did they know that he was best around
sha la summerbee

sha la la la summerbee
who the f---ing hell is he?
the greatest centre forward in history
united 1 and city 3
georgie best has got vd

I've never heard this sung but was told about it years ago and that it cause a lot of controversy at the time due to the lyrics. Nice one.

I was on one of DF coaches to Wembley for the Full Members and we stopped at a pub in Walsall where a version of ' The West Ham came in one by one' was sung all the way to ten but I can't remember the lyrics.

Not sure if it has been mentioned but there was the classic 'Who's up Mary Brown' and this little ditty to the tune of the laughing policeman.

I know a Man United fan he lives just down my way
I know he is a dirty red as he is big, fat and gay
And everytime I see him
He makes me f*****g spew
He's just another dirty red from Man U

'Gerry Gow is going get you'
'Monday, Tuesday who the f**k are Wednesday'
'He's here, he's there he's every f*****g where Tommy Booth'
'You're going home by combine harvester'
'I can't read and I can't write but I can drive a tractor'
'Oh I do like to be beside the seaside'

Is there a reason why we only have about 3 songs these days?

'Oh I do like to be beside the seaside,
Oh I do like to be beside the sea,
Oh I do like to stroll along the prom, prom, prom,
where the brass bands play...
FUCK OFF WEST BROM...

Great when we play WBA...

There is a more infamous song to the tune of Laughing policeman... about munich..

I seem to recall many City fans being ejected from the terraces of the Hawthorns for singing that song........

I heard of a song that had the line "they said City couldn't play" . In the seventies I met a guy on the train to a match with a tattoo that showed a skull with an axe going in to it with the words "He said City couldn't play" around it . Does anyone know anything about this song - I think it comes from a long time ago .

I referred to this song earlier in the thread.

It predates any song discussed on here by decades.

There is a piece of footage around, maybe on Youtube, showing the crowds waiting back in Manchester to greet City's cup winning team of, I think, 1934. It focusses on a group of women singing this song. I posted about it at the time on Bluemoon. I'll have a dig round.

Think it was in Gary's pathe clips last week..
