"Those were the days my friend" song

How many oldies remember the time when the coppers used to walk around the pitch.. and the Kippax used to do the key stone cops tune..

Or the 'Harry Roberts is our friend' song.. going back a few years!!!

We went in the Stretford End all covered in blue
We saw to Utd and Docherty too
We went to the graveyard to see Dochertys grave
We didn't throw flowers we threw handgrenades
NA na na na na na na
ha ha , who's up mrs brown who's up mrs brown,

They say that Old Trafford's a wonderful place
but the songs that they sing are a fuckin disgrace
with full backs and half backs and forwards too
with their hands down their shorts they've got fuck all to do.

The Stretford End sing and the Stretford End shout
the songs that they sing they know fuck all about
so we all agree where United should be
shovelling shit on the isle of Capri.

Of Capri
Of Capri
shovelling shit on the isle of Capri
Of Capri
Of Capri
shovelling shit on the isle of Capri!

The original song was a hit for Mary Hopkins back in either '68 or '69. Something like that. It was produced by Paul McCartney.

The original song is an old Ukranian folk song, the band The Wedding Present did a class cover of it for a John Peel session.

Didn't know that. Cheers mate.

Yeah, it's got a sort of 'folky' sound to it. A bit like 'El Condor Pasa' by Simon and Garfunkel.

Good song though.

I'm not that old but it was "The Cuckoo Waltz" - Laurel & Hardeys signature tune!

Haha I did this to a copper at Anfield about 5 years ago as he was chucking some bloke out! he looked and said "you're next son"! twat!

I used to sing this with a few pissed up mates in the 80's coming back from away matches
(to Mull of Kintyre)

Mullar'ed again
Oh p*ssed rolling in at half three
I pretend, but she see's right through me
oh Mullar'ed again.

Far have I travelled, and much have I drank
Dark distant grounds where the crappers all stank
Nights when we sang like a p*ssed up Welsh choir
and curries too strong that left our arses on fire

Oh mullar'ed again
