It is here to stay. Before Kiev anyone with 13,000+ points could get a ticket and then sell it on to anyone even if they are banned by the club or the police. Under this system they know who has the ticket. Barca and others sold out at 13,000(ish) PSG sold out at far far less, now that was due to a number of factors but one of the main reasons was the only ones getting tickets were the ones going and whether you like it or not 'Points Whores' are a big problem. This helps prevent it and it helps prevent knobheads travelling.

So I am an arsehole. Thanks for that. If the rules say you have to collect your ticket at a central point so be it. If it stops the idiots getting tickets so be it, sick of being sat amongst cocaine snorting dickheads. Coca cola cup final was a good example .I can put up with pissed up lads, but the druggies are beyond the pale. The City staff did their best to make it as good as they could

I haven't mentioned security ? Yes Paris/The french are paranoid about security - who wouldn't be ? but my post that you quoted clearly states that the people that applied for tickets could not sell them on, therefore anyone that is banned by the police or City could not get one. I fully accept they could buy one in the home end but i am refering to the measures City put in place. I had absolutely no roblem with collecting my ticket whether it was the location, the staff or anything.

People who cause trouble do so with or without a match ticket. If on the banned list you need to surrender your passport anyway s can't travel.

Corky, I ask this purely as a nosy old biddy and just for information. As we are in the EU as are France am I right/wrong in thinking that we only have to show identification i.e. driving licence or similar when we go to an EU country? I remember going to Eire a couple of years ago and being told I didn't need a passport but of course that could be something totally different. I do always take my passport but just wondered. :-)

The UK kept its border control, you can go outside the UK to Channel Islands, Mann or Eire without a passport. Photo identification is not needed to get in, just to get on the plane to the 'common travel area'.

The UK kept its border control, you can go outside the UK to Channel Islands, Mann or Eire without a passport. Photo identification is not needed to get in, just to get on the plane to the 'common travel area'.

How on earth do you implement a ticket collection system for 20,000 blues.
You'd need to serve 33 people a minute for 10 hours solid.
Just can't see how it could be done for mcu larger attendances.

Yes Barcon, the usual sales criteria comes out 4 days or so before the first day of sale and had it on. The problem is this will be after 90% of transport and hotels are booked, and people often share season tickets etc.

If...and its a big if.......city do get through..... champs draw will be Friday and we could be playing away 26th / 27th april - less than 10 days after draw.
Therefore, IF, we are in the draw - city should put the sales criteria up straight after the PSG game and start selling tickets on sat at the latest....after all, every team knows how many tickets they will allocate away fans and the price per tick. We should also stick wiv 3 or even 4 sales windows per day as this worked well last time.

It seems that some fans have a personal animosity towards the head security man and that has affected their view on the ticket collection process. If we leave that person out of the equation what is/was the problem ?
Would fans prefer the previous system, i.e getting them in England , if so why ?
Is it the location of the hotel ?
I think using this process meant that the tickets were distributed far more evenly than other Champs laegue matches because points whores were excluded and therefore it was a good idea.

The problem is the location was announced too late to ensure hotels were booked which gave easy access to that part of Paris. Fans fly, drive and go by train so it might not have been possible to have a location that was accessible to all and therefore at least give us more time to plan.It seems that some fans have a personal animosity towards the head security man and that has affected their view on the ticket collection process. The other reason I don't like the idea is that the last collection was 60 minutes before kick-off and if fans were delayed then they might miss out. If we got tickets before travelling it would be less of an issue.
I don't have a problem with the club weeding out the points whores, but that would be far more successful if they monitored various selling sites as we play far more away games in the PL than we do in Europe.
We know the rags, Chels and England have been doing it for a while, but what about all the other English clubs playing in Europe? How do Spuds, Arse, Dippers etc get away with it?
