Ticket Loyalty Points

Junior pull-through tickets are limited to, I think, 100 tickets.

I though I might have figures for the numbers in various points brackets from City Matters meetings but can't find them if I have.

The only thing I do have is that when we played Everton in 2019, which was the first post-lockdown game and where attendance was limited, there were 650 tickets allocated to those on over 22k points. I'm assuming that was the number who said they wanted one, rather than everyone who had over 22k. So your guess is probably a reasonable one.

My view was, and still is, that points are better than ballots, but we need to change the process. There were discussions about introducing a 5-year rolling system, as they have at Spurs but the big disagreement was about how we achieved that. There are various ways of doing it that were talked about:
  • Just take the last 5 years points from Day 1;
  • Divide the points by a factor (say 50 or 100) and use the result as the start point, so high points holders kept their advantage.
  • Every season, drop the earliest 4 or 5 years points until you got down to the last 4 or 5 years;
  • Weight points so that the last 5 years are weighted at 100%, down to a much lower weighting (10 or 20%) for the earliest years.
We simulated a few of these, using the top 100 points holders as our sample, in order to see if there was any significant impact on these people. Then we got into lockdown and the discussions petered out.
Quite agree with a rolling points system. However it needed to have started 2/3 years ago instead of abolishing the system

I assume they are still tracking who is buying the tickets so it’s possible to back track ? Although will cause uproar !!!

100 junior pull throughs seems high ? Again I assume this is based on a 3k allocation and is pro-rata

I for one benefited from ( my lad has at my expense) this was until he was 17. Then he fell into a gap between 17 and the 18-25 bracket so had to speak with the ticket office quite often as they had missed this issue
I’ve taken him practically everywhere since he was about 8. As a result he’s 19 on 21k
points

Thanks for the clarification Colin

How did they get tickets? I have just under 23k points and missed out for the first time in well over ten years.
There's a number of ways they could've legitimately got tickets (depending on your definition of 'legitimate').

Via Hospitality season card holders, the OSC, the Club's own allocation for players, staff and others, sponsors allocations.

Take your pick.

My guess is there’s approximately 1000 fans with 21000+ based on the sales windows and what’s available after the club, corps & sc have had first dibs
With around 300ish on 26000 plus that’s based on sales

Windows 3-4 (23-21k) there’s around 50-70 in these brackets that’s based on sales
(I know I’m very sad) my lad is on 21000 I’m much higher so I need to be on the ball for his ticket for the bigger popular games so I keep a track on what’s left
He missed out (officially) on Liverpool & Utd. Qualified for Leeds ok

Just my thoughts would love to know the truth
Think there's a lot more than a thousand on 21k plus other than that you could be close with the rest but we'll never know the club don't seem to let on.

I know of one who's got 29k + mind he did go everywhere even when we were shit.

To be fair, it took a lot less commitment to go to every game in those days than it does now. It used to be an away game every other Saturday, with maybe a couple of cup games per season on top.

Just next month you’ve got trips to; Tottenham, Arsenal, Forest, Leipzig and Bournemouth. All in the space of 20 days.

Also only 10 points per away/cup game when it started, we had 52 games. Including the CS we are only guaranteed 52 this season.

It only started to gather pace about 2011? Was it , when they brought it the plat/gold/sup tier system
You did get points for joining the schemes before that but only 25 per comp I seem to recall
Plus the odd home game when they bunged you 100 more
The FA cup quarter v Reading one game from a trip to Wembley. Many of us would have walked there bare footed. The third tier of the CB stand was shut so. The club we’re struggling to fill a 47k etihad for what i classed as an ‘enormous fixture’

Many refused to pay the extra £50 on principle. However principles don’t get you access to away tickets unfortunately.
It was quite clear to me then which direction this away tickets lark was heading, thus I had to pay the extra £50
