Ticket Loyalty Points

Something has materially changed this season. I have 13k points yet the cutoff in the league has come down to my level once (Chelsea). I reckon that was because it was just after Xmas and midweek. The cutoff seems to be about 18k. Naturally the cutoff goes up every year but it’s poor that I can only really have hope for a midweek match.
I suspect more tickets are going to the increased part hospitality like the Managers Corner.
A development I am not a fan of.
Me and my grandson are in the same boat 13,000 points. both in all cup schemes (we keep getting home draws) he's only 13 years old and I've promised him as many away games as possible.
Charity shield and Southampton are the only two we qualified for. Obviously both games we went but CITY didn't turn up. Lol

The next generation you mention is the same as the next generation I was behind 20 years ago. You'll get there in the end. Unless you want something for

That's not true as it's near impossible for the young generation to catch up. In contrast, when I bought my first season ticket in the 70s I became a "regular" season ticket holder after 5 years.

No totally different times. For the vast majority of games through the 80s, 90s, early 00s away tickets were far more accessible. Many games you could just turn up to. Just one example wigan v city play off semi final, allocation 1300, I only needed 5 ticket stubs from away matches that year.

Just daft to suggest things are the same the demands for tickets for both home and away games is completely different.

And like I say I am not that young generation most affected.
9,000 watching at Maine Road. Most of whom wanted a ticket

Points should also only get counted over a shorter period of time. Going to matches in 2004 should not be the decider of whether you get a ticket to Old Trafford or Liverpool etc in 2022
Sorry sir - it absolutely should!!
There are plenty that did the hard yards when we were shite - basically travelling out of loyalty and enjoying the crack. They deserve to enjoy the successful times now - rather than some people who've decided it'd be great to get to away games now we're doing well.
The younger supporters have a dedicated allocation should they want to go.
The 2 things I'd change - the Corporate allocation (be better used in a ballot), and giving ANY tickets to travel agencies. (Both mentioned earlier in the thread).
I took a sabbatical last season due to Covid - I now miss each window by 250 points (19750), but I ain't bleating about it as I made a choice

That sort of proves my point though. Local game, small allocation, massive match in the clubs history and the criteria to get you access to a ticket was a lot easier. A kid of 17 could have started going that year, went 5 matches, and applied for a ticket, bit different to nowadays.

There’s a clear 33.3333% split here isn’t there
The fans who have the points 33.3333%
Inc myself in this

Supporters Clubs have always been there 33.333%. I won’t join one. Bin there done that

Whichever bellend thought to attract the box holders and table bookers in corporate to cough up by offering a third of the allocation needs to be held accountable for all this bickering. This is where they’re all going
They only turned up 10 years ago. I’m sure 90% are being passed on.

So when they club decide to make an example who do they pick on!!!!

Remove this lot out of the equation you would have got a ticket for OT or Anfield on 15/16k I would guess

Loyalty points is the best system in my opinion but it should on a five year rolling basis not just kept on an individual’s account forever more. Hopefully if we are soon going down the road of digital away tickets then loyalty points for away games can be reintroduced.

The distribution of tickets is the bigger issue however.

Good points mate, very eloquently put.

The club are always going to give tickets to corporate but it shouldn’t be any more than their percentage of our season ticket base. So if corporate makes up 10% of our overall season ticket holders (I’ve no idea of the numbers by the way) then they should get no more than 10% of the allocation for away games.

100% true, not saying all branches operate like this, but I know for a fact some “supporder” are getting tickets for games they shouldn’t be getting a sniff of
That wasn’t your comment though mate. If you are going to come out with that sort of stuff you should be able to post genuine evidence.

A few years ago when there was a pile on against Supporters Club members, it turned out that the leader of this lobby was in fact involved in running an OSC Branch who was unhappy with their “miserly” ticket allocation. I’m not joking either. Any ticket not earned through points should be seen as a big bonus.

its not my place to call out people personally, or branches, but I 100% stand by what I have said because it is 100% true, I am calling out the fact people are getting tickets for huge away days, when they have done nothing to earn the

I will leave it here. Branches have to deal with membership requests from people reading that tickets are spread like confetti. The reality is that my Branch of 200 members received 2 tickets for Forest Away. 1 of the tickets the guy might have got on his points anyway.

Maybe it should be all on points. I wouldn’t mind that either. Many on the highest points have really put in the hard yards. That said, it would really be a closed shop without the 18-25 allocation etc.

I am not questioning your integrity, just highlighting what I know is happening, I know if I had earnt 20000 loyalty points and kept missing out, I would be frustrated, and I also think supporters clubs do great stuff and deserve rewarding

At least we haven’t had to cope with Tommy Hutch not showing up for a book signing

Yes that Wigan away match was a nightmare. We managed to blag our way into the Directors' Box at Springfield Park using some very devious subterfuge and turning up in a suit and tie. It was better than climbing over the fence with the jibbers. I have got lots of points these days and use them to attend most matches. But in older times I had to be very creative to get into some of the away matches usually getting tickets in home sections.

Not sure away tickets were that easy to get hold of even then TBH

Also didn't most go to regular season ticket holders?

Anyway....fuck Wigan shudder
