Yup, indeed. 'Market Forces'!Unless it’s global it won’t work.
Look at rugby league, the best players just move to Australia and get paid loads more.
Yup, indeed.
Same as with the Women's league over here. European clubs don't have anything like the salary restrictions that the WSL imposes (with some right on its side.. sustainability arguments and all that..), so after doing well here, our best talent pops across to Germany, France or Spain for the moolah.
One only has to look at our Women's squad in recent years to see the top British players we've lost to European teams with huge financial support.
I don't like the shedloads of money the lads at the top of the football tree get paid but, as you say, if a voluntary salary cap were applied the PL would lose its status as the best league in the world pretty rapidly..

Not sure how the money in football should be broken down but I do know the players should be the most heavily rewarded.
That’s who people go to see after all.
I'm sure the lads'n'lasses who follow our Women's squad closer than I do* will appraise us of the actual facts better than I ever could but yes, the WSL has had a wage cap in place for a while.I didn’t know the women’s game had a salary cap.
I don’t really follow women’s football closely but what’s the reasons for that? Seems unfair to me.
