Time for our fans to become the impeccable?

"We'll buy your club and burn it down" made me chuckle when we played Scunthorpe. Typical City humour.

Personally one of the worst chants I've heard - I hate this one.

For me the problem is much more deep rooted. IMO some older blues have become that accustomed to whinging and moaning (hard not to I suppose for all those years) that they don't know any different.

I remember all the foamers and screamers when we were shit. I used to think they enjoyed having a good old cry at times. Well now our team is the dogs bollocks we can't whinge about em any more can we? Well apart from Barry. And Milner. Oh and Balotelli. We can no longer cry about hughes being sacked and Roberto being defensive and boring. What can we whinge about? Err.. the fans! Yes, our fans are now enjoying themselves too much. The problem with moaning and whinging for 20/30 years is that it becomes part of you're DNA. It's embedded deep in your psyche and very difficult to break free from it. The "younger" or "newer" fans that haven't struggled like the older lot are the easiest and obvious target. I remember a post a few months back calling them "the clearasil army" for taking the piss out of united by singing "this is how it feels to be city" whilst dancing at the beer keller in munich. At the beer festival. In europe. At our first champions league away game. Against Bayern fucking munich! (if you don't get the piss take there, god fucking help you).

This doesn't apply to every older fan. It's just what I have noticed with a few. It's almost like they resent the fact that the younger lot are having a ball and that they haven't had it as tough as them. I am 30 and up until last year I have obviously not seen us win anything. I am not biased towards the younger lot I am just saying what I have noticed.
yes you are

They get a lot of unnecessary stick in my opinion.

I didn't mind the 'buy your club and burn it down' one. The 'we'll score when we want' is an embarrassment though. Never sang it, never will. Would only sing it to rags but to me that song just says that we desperately want to be the rags

Well..aside from those of us lucky enough[or unlucky] to be old enough to remember from 1967-1970 when we won almost everything, then i am afraid the rest HAS been pretty shite!

We came 4th in 1972 when we should have won the league. In 1974 we lost to Wolves in the league cup final. We won it in 1976.We were runners up in the league in 1977 to Liverpool.Aside from the cup final to Tottenham in 1981,which we lost, then yes, nothing much to shout home about except maybe the thrilling football under Keegan for a season and that was not in the top flight.I suppose we could add the play off final against Gillingham but aside from the importance to where we might be now,it wasn't much to shout about either was it,scraping out of what was the old third division.

Devils advocate here Paul ;) "Being Shite" for 74 cup final, 76 cup final, europe for 3 or 4 seasons on trot, 81 cup final, big attendances to be able to buy decent players, mostly top flight, theres about 70 league clubs that would call that success, so is that being arrogant towards the majority of the English football league teams by deeming it "shite". hehehe, by the way, i will never sing billion in the bank, burn your ground etc, but would sing anything except Mun##h to the rags. ( but i did when i was younger )

Were we in Europe for 3 or 4 seasons on the trot? We were there for 2 seasons on the trot as we were back in the cup winners cup as holders in 1971,where we lost to Chelsea with an injury hit side.I remember us in the Uefa cup when we beat AC Milan 3-0.Under Peter Reid in the 80's we would have qualified twice for Europe but English clubs were banned at the time.

As for the above it is hardly much to write home about is it,lol? From 1981 until 2011 we never appeared in a major final and sunk as low as the third tier in English football.

I know you said it tongue in cheek and i appreciate that.We can pick holes in every post and everyone will always have an alternative view, that is debate.
