Time for the owners to repay the fans

I think the possibility of kaka and others is repayment enough...after all -they have only been here 4 months...TBH they dont owe us owt....we owe them.

Yeah yeah let's all have a whip round at the game tomorrow. :)

I really think it could happen. The owners dont need the money and in the current financial climate it would really send out the right message to the rest of football. O.K give players massive amounts of money but give the fans a break when it comes to buying tickets.

And my point about the owners paying the fans back is that if we'd have been anyone else but city fans we would all have deserted years ago. We kept the club going so that the new owners chose us and not another club.

At the moment we are getting some right shite from certain quarters (media, pundits other clubs etc etc.), that during the credit crunch, we have the audacity to bid £100M on one player, albeit one of the best there is.

The media are bleating that the common man has been priced out of football, its now middle class and the middle class man / woman etc. are struggling to find money for his / her season ticket. And look what little old City are doing - the bastards (or words to that effect)

I dont think that it is wholly unrealistic that this situation could be used as a very, very positive spin by our owners. If for example they kept the season tickets at the same level as last year (or reduced them by say £25.00 or so) think of the positive PR, and the media reaction to this ? - It would mess with their heads big time

Assume 30,000 season tickets @ £25.00 discount = £750,000 lost revenue to them, to our owners this is chicken feed.

Our owners are very astute business men, they are aware of our history and our fan base and this is one of reasons that they have said attracted them to buy us.

It probably wont happen, and prices may go up for 2009/10, justified by the investment they have put in to the club, for which we cannot thank them enough.

But If (and its a big if) prices were kept the same and maybe even reduced) I would not be that surprised.

With what has happened recently anything is possible

Ticket revenues make up 20% of the clubs income.

So to reduce that by a few percent won't make that much difference. However, attendances are VERY POOR at the moment, so they would be mad to hike up prices for next season. A price freeze or a small increase is probably on the cards. I doubt they'd reduce season tickets, although I would love them to.

They could have a sliding scale of discounts based on loyalty points, maybe up to a maximum of 50% off. It wouldn't cost them a fortune and would be well received by the fans.

You can't have £100M players an prices dropping.

I will be happy if mine doesn't go above £400.

I think the owners will look at the attendances in the run up to the announcement of the prices. If parts of the ground remain empty then I think they will reduce the prices by 10% or more. They may do this even if they get full houses. I think they are more interested in full houses rather than the revenues generated. A reduction would also really annoy the swamp dwellers when they face another hike of at least 10% to finance the Glazers' PIK notes.

That may be so before we sign Kaka, if that goes through and similar is expected there will be no need to reduce prices.

Someone told me that Ian Cheeseman said something on Radio Manchester about the club thinking about cutting prices for next year. As I said earlier, it could happen and should happen. We can afford to do like no other club can.
