Time to stand up and be counted…..

Tough day but the signs have been there for a while.

It’s been an incredible period in our history but we need a reboot now. The club has to evolve, a few players need moving on and we have the right manager in place to start the next cycle.

I’ve accepted the title has gone and would be delighted with Top 4 and I would not rule this team out for a cup competition.

We’re still creating chances, playing great football, but the motivations or structure to do the dirty work off the ball has gone. This can be resurrected in one off games and a few tweaks in January in the market.

I remember Balotelli once saying that Kompany, de Jong, Barry, Vieira and Kolarov would go in hard on him in training to toughen him up, would tell him off for diving etc.

And that lived on as a culture at City for a good few years after they’d all left.

I don’t see that there’s any of that in our squad anymore. It’s like that culture has disappeared. We’ve gone far too soft. We used to bully teams but now we get bullied. We have divers, players slapping the floor and moaning at the ref when they don’t get a free kick for their dive, players limping around when there’s nothing wrong with them.

Ederson, Dias, Akanji, Stones, Rodri, Haaland need to be having words with these young lads… STOP FUCKING DIVING, GET THE FUCK UP, TOUGHEN THE FUCK UP, GRIT YER FUCKING TEETH AND GET STUCK THE FUCK IN!

We won four leagues in a row. We also did the treble. We have made records and then shattered those records. As fans we have been truly blessed, because I can tell you for free we won't witness this kind of domination again.

We are in a crisis, yes, but it's only a crisis because of the standard we have set over the last four seasons. I'm at peace with it; the squad needs a rebuild, we have the best manager in the world to facilitate that.
I agree with every word except one. We are not in a crisis. We were in a real crisis under Swales and Lee when we were close to going into administration and a lot of blues don't know that, especially younger and newer blues who weren't around in our darkest days.

We're in decline but when you reach the pinnacle of world football a drop off is inevitable, and not too many clubs in the world have reached the pinnacle of world football and stayed there as long as we have.

I'm not being negative when I say we're probably not going to reach those dizzy heights again but what we've seen since winning the Stoke FA Cup final has been beyond our wildest dreams and the reality of me being there witnessing us lifting many of our trophies will live in my memory until I pop my clogs.

I can live with not winning anything this season because we have several players who are past their best and prone to injuries. And it may take a squad rebuild before we lift another trophy.

We have been blessed and although older blues can remember all the relegations and shambolic leadership from past chairman our good times far outweigh our bad times, and our future is still brighter than ever.

I think this season is one to sit back and relax...what will be will be...I dont think we will win the league we are so far off it and no where near good enough.... We need a reset and a squad refresh.. we have to fight for top 4 and we will have to fight.

the title is either Liverpools or Arsenals (probably the scousers) to lose....

Unless there is a HUGE change around in how we play we aint getting anywhere near andI for one am quite relaxed about that because what we have done in the last 7-8 seasons under Pep....we cant always win and neither should it be like that or it turns into what we have criticised in the past...a one horse league like in Germany and France...

Its also exciing to think about how Pep might try to change this going forward (next season) - I dont think he has the players available (rodri) or that can get back to their peak (KDB, Gundo, Stones and Walker) that will allow him to change it this season.
He doesnt have the players to cover those named...

Clear out those at the end of the season and go again..just enjoy the ride till then

At the end of this seasonthe ones that def shoudl go are

Gundo
Walker

Serious questions about:
KDB
Stones
Kovacic
Bernardo (possiby - but focussing on him at present seems unfair as the running/effort and input from him is still as it has been)

We also have to see how Rodri comes back but what MUST be a priority is top quality cover for him - this type of injury NEVER goes away completely...he will now more than ever need someone of absolute quality who can give him a rest and share the load
A right back is also an absolute must -Rico Lewis aint that person.
A centre half or a left fullback to enable Gvardiol to move centrally.....Stones aint relaible - rolls royce of a player BUT made of glass

The Stones thing worries me, I have suffered from Plantar Fasciitis and every time it clears up, I think it is over, and then it strikes again. I think that is why he was subbed at half time. It could end his career earlier than his contract runs out. Kev looks unsure of himself, little wonder after two lengthy injuries, and Gundogan is nowhere near the player of three years ago. Walker’s age is showing, and I think it was a mistake to let Alvarez go without a ready replacement. As for the defence, Lewis still lacks experience but no lack of effort, and Akaji and Ake still not fully fit. We also mis Dias. All told we are in a dip at the worst time, hopefully a performance on Wednesday will give the team a boost.

I personally hope he uses Wednesday to test O'Reilly in midfield.

I had PF. It’s a woman. Painful and debilitating. But it did eventually clear up, WITH REST…. and arch supports.

Rest is the only thing unfortunately.

We'll hopefully get a boost on Tuesday evening but you may get one on Wednesday being a day behind in country bumpkin Dorset ; )

I eventually found the right arch supports but I had already subconsciously adjusted my gait to compensate for the pain, and now my hip and knee are paying the price. That said I am nearly 70 so not much chance of getting into the City squad, even after yesterday’s debacle.
