Experiences of tinnitus are very common in all age groups, especially following exposure to loud noise, however, it is unusual for it to be a major problem. There is a widely held misconception that tinnitus is confined to the elderly, but various studies have shown that it can occur at any age, even quite young children. Mild tinnitus is common - about 10 per cent of the population have it all the time.

My medical at the airport is due and i am not looking forward to it all, my hearing has definitely deteriorated due exposure to aircraft engines, certain pitches i struggle with.

i went watching the view last monday so could this have anything to do with it, the view are a band for those who dont know

Had it since I was young and perforated my ear in the swimming pool, seems worse when its quiet ie in bed early morning but I very rarely notice it......ring ring

Hiya i have had it for years , after needing ops to remove tumour from my ear. It can come and go for years in some people. There is no cure as such, but if it is really getting you down ask your gp to refer you to your local audiology clinic. There is something called a tinnitus masker. The masker is like a hearing aid which makes a noise and this distracts your brain from "listening" to the tinnitus. It might help if it is really getting you down. Hope you are ok soon
