tinnitus

I had it for a bit, for maybe a year, but haven't had it since, maybe two years without it

When I had it if I wrapped a tissue around my little finger and put it inside my ear it would come out a bit wet, like there was excessive fluid in the ear canal or whatever it's called.

If I do that now the tissue is dry, anyone else had this problem? Maybe it's totally unrelated but who knows.

Glad there’s a thread on this.

I’m losing my fucking mind with it. Tonight it’s extremely loud. Other days not so bad.

I’ve never been exposed to loud noises in work or whatever - I have a desk job.

Interestingly my BP is a bit high of late and I’m wondering if there’s a link?

It’s so irritating.
Have you contacted these?

I have had tinnitus for 30 years. As someone posted above, you need a coping strategy. The key thing is not to listen to it. Distraction helps, music etc. (Or wife droning on about summat) Concentrate hard on something else like reading or writing. Over time you will get used to it. Don’t despair, the first phase is the worst. Best of luck.

There's no way I'd be able to get to sleep and stay asleep without having something playing in the background to concentrate my mind on and distract myself from the tinnitus, usually a podcast or audiobook.

I've become so dependant on only being able to sleep if I have something on in the background all night now that if it stops playing for any reason in the middle of the night I'll wake up immediately.

Yes I find if I manage to get a lot of water or soap left in my ear after taking a shower it seems to be worse until I carefully clean it out.

Mine is louder when I'm stressed
After a couple of days on holiday it's noticeably better, still there, but much less
Very much this.

Sounds cliché but it does become a part of your life that you just get used to. And gets hightened and noticed when it is something else bothering you.
