Tino Livramento

That was the rumour.

He had a mixed season.

But we can all see he has the talent. He needs to be played at centre half. Once he settles in at centre half, he will live up to his transfer fee.

As for Livramento, he can be equally as good as a right back, especially with Pep coaching him.
It was rather more than a rumour, you can argue whether or not the rating was accurate, but it was how many rated him.

When a player plays well in any football tournament or league their price can increase, as we've seen over the years.

If not that a price increase, it at least cements Newcastle's asking price if they were prepared to sell him to City.(which they won't)

Newcastle will also point to the £77 million fee City paid for Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig in 2023 as a benchmark transfer fee.
Thats for an established Centerback with Qorld Cip Ssmi final experience.

Livramebro hasn't even played for his country yet. Talk leas a WC semi. They are not in the same bracket.

One is a star CB, the other is a talented prospect.

Not against this guy but his market value is about £35 million. If we really think we need him and there is nobody that comes close to him I can see £50 million. Once you start getting over that it becomes a question for me in that it makes us look like United splurging cash on players that are worth nowhere near that amount and paying big wages to boot.

I don’t see him improving us that much. He’s just OK in a very tiny market. I didn’t see many blues wanting him before we were linked although that was probably before the HG problem was widely known. Is he really that special that he becomes our second biggest purchase ever? After a month we could want Nunes back even with his propensity for a bozo (which might go with experience)

If Nunes was HG … do you think people would still want a RB ?
Honest answer is that I definitely would.

I've lived in mainland Europe for 25 years now, so my estimation isn't based on his nationality (I also happen to think that the talents of English footballers are generally overestimated, not underestimated).

100%. Whilst Nunes has improved and is still improving I fear for him in the biggest games against Real Madrid, PSG and Liverpool as he's not a natural RB. There's absolutely no way I'd be looking to get rid of Nunes as he is a very good utility player like Zinchenko once was, but you simply can't rely on him as your number 1 RB if you want to win another Champions League.

It's definitely our only weakness at the moment.

Livramento is England's nailed on future RB like Walker was when playing for us. For that reason, I think we'd be mad not to go all out for him. If he costs 60-70 million, that is the price you have to pay for Homegrown players. If we keep him for 10 years it works out at 6-7 million a season. The issue is, if we go for someone like Vanderson how do we fit him into the squad and who would we get rid of from the non-HG list? Livramento is the only option really.

Guess we will see if City agree on this approach.

Being HG might swing it, but he definitely isn't worth the quoted fee imo.

Ignore the homegrown, the price and whether Nunes is good enough for a minute - would you be happy for Livramento to be our RB against Madrid, PSG etc?

He's young, he should improve, but I've not really seen anything of him that suggests it's his level at the moment - admittedly, I've not paid huge attention when he's played for Newcastle, but he's not stood out. I don't see him currently being able to pocket a Vinicius Jr like Walker did. It's therefore a lot of money for the potential that he might be good enough for that.

If we get him, I hope he can provide what we need and improve to the level he'll need to be at, but for the price, it feels like he should be there already.

Khusanov dealt with Vini Jnr?

100% for me. Hall, Livramento, Guimaraes, Tonali, Isak and Gordon, I have been singing their praises of all season and prior to the signings we've made I said I'd take any one of them and they'd start here.

Livramento 100% starts for us and is only going to get better. He also has versatility at left and right back which makes him even more valuable.

Yeah, i’d be very happy with him playing against any top side. Brilliant job against Salah in the league cup final and Doku struggled to get the better of him. One of the best on one defenders around and decent on the ball

Fair enough. The last four I'd agree with, price aside.

If Livramento is our first choice RB for the next 10 years, as he could be with his age, he'd be worth every penny. I'm just not sure he's an upgrade on what we've got, let alone a replacement for what we had.

I would. When Newcastle played PSG a few years ago in a match they drew 0-0 Livramento was absolutely brilliant. Newcastle parked the bus and 1 v 1 he was superb. He was superb against us for Southampton also. I think in time he will become one of the world's best RB's. Defensively he's solid and that's what you need in those types of games.

There's a lack of top class full backs at the moment. We've got one with Ait Nouri at Left Back. The other right backs are Hakimi who will never leave PSG, Timber who's never going to leave Arsenal, Frimpong I feel is defensively suspect and more of a wing back, Kounde who's not going to leave Barcelona and doesn't have Livramento's attacking potential. Livramento is a great choice, has so much potential and he's only 22. Vanderson I've not seen a great deal of but seems like a very good player from when I have.

Would you have foreseen Lewis Skelley going to the Bernabeu and absolutely bossing Vini/Rodrygo 3 months before he did? Neither of us did and I much prefer Livramento to Lewis Skelley as a full back.

Wasn't Livramento class against Salah this season as well? Possibly the League Cup final
