Tiredness (merged)

Re: Apparently we're really tired

You should never give players excuses ,if they have a bad game ,well I was tired boss.
It should be the other way round ,my players tired ?No,they cannot wait for the next game ,raring to go.etc

Don't hear Slur Alex moaning about tiredness and they have as many injuries and games as us.

This is becoming a self fulfilling prophecy!

That's because Fergie made about 8 changes to his team vs Arsenal keeping them fresh for Marseilles.

Despite the media myth they have more squad depth than we do.

Re: Apparently we're really tired

So far in 2011 we've played 18 games, will be interesting to know if any other team in the league has played more games this year.

Re: Apparently we're really tired

It's a pathetic excuse in my opinion. I went to watch a mates Sunday league team play a double header, back to back games one after another last week. Most had been on a three night heavy drinking session as preparation for the match, 23 year old lads with about 8 hours sleep in three days and they were still chasing down every last ball until the last minute of the final game and it was played at a frantic pace as well.

It just doesn't wash with me that a team of professional athletes can't perform every three to four days. It's a mental/attitude problem in my eyes, not being helped that they already have a ready made excuse from the manager.

So naive.

With all due respect your anecdote about a Sunday league team means nothing.

You can't be at 100% fitness when playing until midnight Thursday 4,000 miles away, then again on the Sunday at 4pm. Between the physical assertions in the actual game, the lack of sleep, the jet lag and general tiredness from travelling, it takes it's toll. You might be 85-90% sure, and as a professional footballer be fit enough to last the 90 minutes. That isn't up for debate. But in a game of such fine margins the difference between a team of 85% players vs a team of 95-100% fresh players can be all it takes. These guys are putting in 10km each match day. That's 180km of running in 2011. And that's before you take into account training.

Whatever way you want to look at it, the tiredness is a very real issue. However fit the players are and whatever they earn. Its unfortunate that we have had a fairly bad injury situation at the same time. We have been relying on the core set of 16 players.

What we can't do is let it effect our mentality too much. We have to be running on adrenalin for the next week. Finishing top 4 is just too important for us to fuck up now.

Are you being serious? Sunday league football is completely different to profressional football. As Project has just said, most of the players who played yesterday had played less than 72 hours before in sub zero temperates and had to travel 4000 plus miles. Then you've got to take into account they are up against a team who has had more than weeks rest so of course tiredness and fitness issues come into it, tiredness is a real issue when we are playing the same players ever 3 or 4 days

Of course I know the difference but my main point is it's an attitude problem. Mental preparation is just as important. Hearing your manager whinging constantly about players having to do their job a bit more often. Boo fucking hoo. If we are to fulfill our ambitions then they will have to get used to it and change their attitude, otherwise prioritize competitions.

Look, that was the sixth game in 17 days - with injuries preventing us from rotating much, the players are quite obviously going to be tired.

Some of you are giving him shit for the lethargic performances. He's well aware that we're not playing to our full potential, so he's explaining to you the fans just why this is happening.

you are wasting your time

speaks sense here is a nonsense

It certainly is..wtf is wrong with people,we have an FA cup semi against the rags and some still find reasons to complain..

Tell me are you depressed that Reading didn't win?

he has a point, fergie has just been on saying how happy his team are to still be involved in everything in March.

he's right too.

I really don't think it's an attitude problem, the players aren't daft enough to think that they are tired if they aren't. I don't really think you can class Mancini as whinging he's just giving his opinion on the games and in recent weeks we have played like a tired team at times. It's to be expected when you consider the amount of games we've played in such a short space of time, it's not an excuse, it's just the way it is but thats football, we just need to keep going and i'm sure the players and Mancini know that
