Well that sounds like there may be a rule on its way which relates to clubs in debt not being able to spend more than a certain amount on players. That has been mooted for a while now. Just as likely is another which relates to a club only being able to pay wages that are a certain percentage of turnover...which would hit us.

Bingo, I think you may be right. The government has been bugging the Premier League to sort this for a while now. I think the former is more likely than the latter as the latter option may be seen as a measure to try to consolidate the position of the top 4, which surely any smaller club with ambition would not be happy with. And it would certainly deter any foreign investors. However, clubs in debt are more of a liability and are more likely to go under, so these measures would be designed to protect them.

Limiting the total wage bill, if based on turnover, would be a bad thing for us. All indications are his bit of news relates to something very good.

Not to do with one player, therefore potentially something general that relates to any transfer.

Will be good for us and piss the rags off.

Points towards a rule that will impose variable caps on transfers, though I can't figure how that would work to our advantage unless it relates to a club's debt. In which case, the rags - for example - could be limited to say £10 million per player until their debt is reduced to X amount. Same for Chelsea unless the Russian decides to write off the money he has pumped in (potentially increasing the chance of him dumping them). Man City to laugh their way to the top of the Premiership by snarfing players for a quid extra than the rags are allowed to pay. Arsenal to be our main rivals. Barcodes relegated.

All thanks to Joey of course.

Won't be anything to do with wage restrictions or effect EU players as it would be illegal. More likely contracts would go and money would be all important.

I reckon we are signing Tevez that would piss rags off and he must be coming up to be out of contract and would be a mad story! Especially if he has a release clause and is not under contract
