To See Us Lift The League Cup Will Be A Dream Come True

well for me as everyone else its all domestic the trophies in 4 years ( thats a big if not counting any chickens ) i would never ever of dreamed of that 5-10 years ago.

Its certainly been a while since we last did that. It would be a great opportunity for the club to recreate that iconic photo of the team with all four trophys on display.

When Mark Venus scored for Ipswich I thought we could have won it, and Weaver had gifted them the equaliser.

That was a typical quarter final for us, Everton away in 1987 when they were top and we were 2nd division was very one sided, only had one good chance. The Palace one was typical city too in 1994, they had not scored for multiple matches and were a laughing stock, then they played a lower league team in the FA Cup , drew 0-0 but in the replay they got a bag full giving them confidence just in time for the city game.

The Spurs 0-2 QF v ten men and not taking advantage, Gio and Elano dropping futher and further back all game was very frustrating. When we did win a QF after almost 30 years we won two home and away v Arsenal. The first semi against united could have cost them the league due to the Rio appeal so he played and got a longer ban.

Win next Sunday and it completes the set. 25 years ago I would have settled for a soccer six win.

If we were to lift the League Cup next week.............What will it mean to you ?

For me it will be the dream I dared to dream come true as I use to dream of us winning this Cup as I always thought it was our best chance of ever lifting a trophy in my time !!

Of course its all very different now but it will still be a honour to see us lift the cup next week.

Losing to Palace in the ¼ finals 94 ? Still springs to mind

CTID

Battered us 4-0 didn't they ? Didn't go but I remember listening to it on the radio and being sickened by the abject surrender.

I remember going to Goodison around that time for a QF and losing meekly as well

For me it's still a dream come true to see us lift any trophies, biggest match of the season so far next Sunday

Come on City

I was a spotty 16 year old when we played Newcastle and I was overwhelmed by the whole day. The Geordie's were great and very magnanimous despite losing. One of my lasting memories was seeing a city fan with a top hat like Noddy Holder had except he had circular pictures of city players on it rather than mirrors.

I was there in 74 (Wolves defeat) with my Dad & late Uncle. I was on my 1st school holiday abroad in 76 which my parents paid weekly for (unknowingly that CITY would make WEMBLEY). I would love to see us lift THE LEAGUE CUP (forget the sponsors name) I can then proudly say to my Dad that I have seen us win the League, FA cup & ..................:)

we have been robbed a few times in the league cup , liverpool (twice) yooonited , in semi-finals , so although every other premiership club consider it a pain in the arse , i would love to see us win it , and it will be a boost for the rest of the season , would take a scrappy 1-0 , and then we can concentrate on the fa cup , league ,chumps league and world domination :)

I was at all 3 previous finals. 1970 when City had just come back from Portugal an ECWC game against Academica de Coimbra (a shower of dirty bastards but that's another story), Joe Corrigan's cock up gifting WBA a goal after only 5 minutes and a mud caked Glyn Pardoe getting the winner in extra time on a shit heap of a pitch. (Incredibly the Horse of the Year Show had just taken place at Wembley and the pitch was criminally churned up).

1974 when I was so confident we'd beat Wolves but lost 2-1 with Wolves keeper Gary Pierce playing the game of his life. He was shit before and shit after but that day was his. Rodney Marsh so gutted he walked off without collecting his tankard. (No medals for LC finalists in those days).

1976 when Dennis Tueart's amazing goal beat Newcastle after a teenage Peter Barnes had opened the scoring and Alan Gowling had equalised for Newcastle.

3 finals in 6 years and now 38 years later I'll be going to my 4th League Cup final. Hoping for a win of course.

I have been to 2 Cup finals - the FA Cup in 1981 and 2013 and we have lost them both. It will be 3rd time lucky for me I hope....
