To See Us Lift The League Cup Will Be A Dream Come True

im the same, to see us win all the domestic trophies in 3 years would be an absolute dream when it looked like city would never win anything in my lifetime and to share it with my two sons makes it even better

ive been to Wembley well over 100 times watching England and city but although I don't go to England games any more, I will never tire of watching city at Wembley no matter how many times we get there

also for the league cup, I went in 74 as my uncle is gary pierce the wolves keeper on that day who had the game of his life to stop us winning the cup and only being 8 at the time I have to admit wanting wolves on the day cos of him playing, as to the earlier post who said he was shit before and shit after believe me he had a lot of decent games in his career, granted none as good as that, but he did play a blinder at old Trafford v the scum once including a v sign to the Stretford end who were giving him abuse !!!

Can't believe Wolves & Newcastle were 40 years ago. Jees I'm getting old. Want to win this one just as much as all the others. Success breeds success. Whilst I wish the mackems no ill will, hope they enjoy the day, hope we put a display on with a full strength team that includes Sergio.

Agree with this. For me its not just the full set of domestic trophies but closing the circle as I still remember listening to the 76 final on British Forces radio in Germany and jumping around the room when we scored and the commentator waxing lyrical about the Tueart goal. The future was bright, the future was blue...ah the optimism of youth.

So yes the final in 2014 will bookend 30 odd years of pain, amusement and affection.

Course if we fucking lose...well ok we will win it next year instead. That is the beauty right now of Manchester City FC. Bless her.

Love to see us lift this cup on Sunday , hope its the first of at least 3 this season

What will it mean to me? It will be the cure to a 40 year old let down - I was a regular in the Platt Lane end and saw all of the home games in the run up to the 74 LC Final only to be told by my dad that I wouldn't be going to Wembley because he couldn't get me a ticket -never has an 8 year felt so let down! A cup final programme was all I got

Had drifted away from going every week by the 1976 final so never went then either...

Probably won't feel that much to be honest... We are expected to win and we should win.

Shows how far we've come but we have bigger fish to fry .

Understand your point regarding expectation but we should take nothing for granted, but it will be fantastic to win it and personally if we do I will be overjoyed. Having said that I think the success of our season should be judged on the league and champions league.

Went in 76 with my dad and brother and a couple of mates from Eccles, in dads old Hillman Imp which broke down just as we pulled into Keele services.Disaster was averted when a fellow blue from Stockport gave us a lift from there to Wembley in his mini and back again. He was a complete stranger and without him we would have missed the game, well done that man.Was my first trip to Wembley, and last with my dad.Always remember coming out of Wembley and some other blues asking how Yoonitid had gone on.My late dad hated Yoonitid with a passion and brought me up the right way.In a way,if we win next week against Newcastles rivals it will feel like a closed circle, exactly 40 years after the date of the 74 Wolves final defeat.

It would be emotional because the last time we won it I was a mere boy being there with my dad who is sadly no longer here so it would bring back happy memories !
Nice post.
