There's been another. Something has to give.
yes ,only 1000 bullets per personWith the NRA currently in such a sh*t state there has probably never been a better opportunity to try and get something done.
Sadly true. What would the death toll need to be at a single shooting before they think seriously about it? 1000 dead? Would that make them think about changing the constitution?America decided it was okay with mass shootings a long time ago. This won't change anything.
Wah Mee massacre, San Ysidro, Edmond, GMAC Office, Luby's, Columbine, Virginia Tech, Fort Hood, the Aurora movie theatre, Sandy Hook, Charleston, San Bernardino, Orlando nightclub, Vegas 2017, Sutherland Springs, Stoneman Douglas, Santa Fe 2018, Pittsburgh synagogue, Thousand Oaks, Virginia Beach, El Paso, now Dayton.
If all of those shootings can happen without a change to the constitution, more of them will continue to do so.
Do you really think a referendum would make a difference? They will spend ages debating the question, and no doubt lobbyists will play a huge role in ensuring the referendum question is vague enough not to have any impact on gun sales.Don't know if America is just too big for a referendum, but surely if they asked the American public they'd overwhelmingly vote for some form of gun control.
Mind you, it's just another mass shooting. If they didn't do anything after a school shooting I can't see them doing anything here.
No idea fella, but they have to do something or it will happen again. I asked the question of one of our American posters when Obama was President. Why couldn't he just do it himself, after all he was the President. However, it's not that easy. The gun lobby are extraordinarily powerful over there. There'll be lots of hand wringing followed by fuck all action.Do you really think a referendum would make a difference? F*ck all will change.
The House passed a bill (H.R.8) to bring in background checks, but the Senate majority leader technically blocked it. Given that Mitch McConnell has received over $1M in funding from the NRA, it's hardly a surprise. No idea fella, but they have to do something or it will happen again.
