Today's shooting in America thread

I think they’ve gone too far the wrong way to ban guns; it’d cause absolute chaos if they were to ban them now.

That is always the implied threat ie implied insurrection if it was attempted.

However I don’t think anyone is after banning guns outright. Getting a rational discussion on types of guns, assault rifles etc that should be controlled/banned would be a start but even that will get shouted down and lost in the shitstorm that is invariably thrown up.

Anyone who has the gall to suggest that psychopathic lunatics shouldn't have the right to buy as many semi automatic assault rifles as they want with as much ammunition as they can fit in a Toyota Land Cruiser is branded as a snowflake liberal by the all powerful gun lobby. This same lobby are upset that they're not allowed to buy military grade fully automatic weapons and instead need to use bump stocks to make their semi automatic weapons act like fully automatic ones. As long as this attitude is prevalent amongst those with any influence, nothing will change.

Pretty much sums it.

Simple fact is, that for many in the USA, the senseless killing of children is a price worth paying for the individual's right to bare arms.

Oh well. I guess we tried but then we all forgot about all those dead kids. And got on with watching football.

Was this shooting not chaos? Sandy Hook pretty much defines a country in chaos? I guess you mean the economic chaos of lost arms company profits.

And Americans are shit for brains.

Not sure if it's in the Bluemoon code of conduct, but I'm pretty sure crass generalisations like that are reserved for the united and liverpool threads exclusively.

Well, the American people's refusal to address gun control makes every one of them guilty. (and shit for brains)

By the same token, the German people took collective responsibility for the horror carried out in their name

I guess the Germans are just better people than the Americans ( and much less able to shoot up a school).
