Today's shooting in America thread

How fucked up is America if you thought that 7 people dead in two homes across the street from each other might be due to the NFL playoff's?
Because it has been so fucking cold here, I’m struggling to think of a reason for even going across the street!

After all, is there ever a good reason to murder 7 people in two homes across the street from each other?

Just thinking more that it is entirely possible that a family feud over the NFL Playoff's might actually lead to a shooting, and potentially with legally owned firearms.

It is an absolutely CRAZY situation.

That’s nothing! Shootings occur for waaaay more frivolous things!

The thing is, if you don’t know crazy (or can stay away from it) then you don’t have much to worry about.

Random shootings are not the norm, which is why they make news and we get warned about the shooter. Most shootings are targeted, which elicits the “no danger to the public” response from the authorities.

Every day I’m certain I walk right past people who are carrying a concealed firearm…and they might, too. But, 99.999% of legal firearms owners are sound as a pound and you will never have to worry about them.

In fact, I feel more edgy out having a late night drink and walking around in Manchester than I do in Chicago!

I know gun crime must sound ubiquitous from afar, but, for the most part, simply knowing where not to go keeps one out of 99.9% of potential trouble…because it’s rarely random.

I know none of that probably makes you feel less dismissive of the “crazy Americans,” but when you live with it, it becomes not only a fact of life, but one you can both understand and avoid much better.

I've spent a fair bit of time in the US, and I've seen loads of open carry, and met many people who have a concealed carry licence.

I've only ever seen a gun pulled in anger once, and that was a road-rage incident at a main road junction in Florida.

The only thing I find with such free and open access to firearms is that normally rational people have easy access to a weapon capable of killing someone with a level of detachment that you don't get with a knife or a fist. There is no cooling off period or time to reflect. You can kill someone pretty instantaneously in a moment of rage.

If we had the same access to guns i would probably have to deal with a shooting every football train I work.

I've spent 12 and a half years here and have yet to see an open carry! Though to be honest I haven't been looking.
I know when out and about friends have said that friends of theirs we are with are carrying but I've never (obviously) asked them to show me!
