Today's shooting in America thread

Id argue strongly that we dont have a shared culture with them. Poles apart actually
A lot of Brits have this opinion that they’re so loved by Yanks, most definitely not true, in fact most people are fairly derogatory towards England. Americans are made up from such a diverse group of people, why love England unless you’re of descent?

Adults do have the right to purchase such weapons, I was in several stores today that I could have bought an arsenal of assault weapons. Not going through the same old arguments again as it gets us nowhere, however to gift one to a child …….. I’m glad they’re getting what they deserve
Hi can I ask since I have no idea. How much does the kind of kit they got their boy cost. I am just thinking about stuff I might be buying for a 15 year old.. and wondered how it compares to say the price of a top x box or summat? What would he need rifle, scope ,ammo?? Anything else?

They’re not cheap, probably start in the $800 region up to $10k. I have hunting rifles, shotguns for bird hunting and a good sized pistol in case I need to shoot a Grizzly. Never had any interest in an assault rifle, fired quite a few but don’t see any reason for them to be sold as freely as they are.

Thanks I suppose I was just imagining what you might otherwise buy a 15 year old lad and the relative costs. Not cheap at that though .

Why the fuck would you buy a fifteen year old boy a semi auto assault rifle? Insane.
It wasn't an assault rifle, it was a SIG Sauer 9mm.

..........but not sure why a parent would buy a SIG Sauer handgun for their child either.

Surely there were enough signs evident to have made this avoidable........in hindsight.
Such a waste of young lives.

With any luck it might make some parents sit up and take notice, perhaps.

Hmmmm, I could understand a little thing like that

I kind of disagree on that mate.
I've lived in 2 other English speaking nations America & Australia. I slotted into both societies very easily. I could go to live back in America now and slot into life in somewhere like Florida, no problem. Much more (imo) than a different non English speaking nation.

I think the English speaking nations all have their own identity but culturally we're similar.
And of course if some twat like Putin tried to invade any of us we would all look to Uncle Sam to protect us and help us (no question about that).

This is an interesting case. Parents of a 15yo mass shooter getting sent down.

I was just reading this, this morning. The fact that it's an historic verdict is a damning indictment of the mindset over there, but maybe the start of a change in culture? Probably not, but you can only hope.

I wonder if the school were aware of the "present", as when they called in the parents on the day of the shooting the little shit sat there with the gun in his backpack (maybe in his locker or nipped home if nearby). Given the reason for the meeting, why did the school not ask or search him and why oh why did the parents not wonder where the gun was?

Hopefully it's 4 consecutive 15 year terms each.

It was a Sig Sauer 9mm pistol, had a quick look and they start from around 400 bucks. 9mm ammo will be cheap and available everywhere, including freebies in cereal boxes (probably not the last).
